Changelings are a group of former recurring antagonists in the Character What series. They are a insectoid pony-like creatures with the ability to shapeshift into anyone they desired to feed on the love from others, and they are formally led by Queen Chrysalis as well as members of former The Forces of Evil. They later reformed themselves upon learning of sharing love instead of stealing it for themselves.

Character What: Tales[]

The Changelings was chipping their way at magical protective sphere that Canterlot until they break through the force-field and started terrorizing the city and the ponies in it. Shadow Joe and the Mane Six fight off the Changelings, who cunningly disguised themselves in a attempt to distract Shadow Joe and the Mane Six. Princess Cadence free Shining Armor from Queen Chrysalis' spell and they combined their magic to send Chrysalis and all Changelings flying back to the hive.

Character What: Hero Force[]

In Fawn in the Empire, after learning from the Stormtroopers that Bambi was onboard the intergalactic empire spaceship, Shadow Aaron send out a patron of Changelings to capture Bambi, but the Changelings failed to capture Bambi as the young fawn managed to escape without getting shot down.

In Bambi The Red-Nosed Deer, Queen Chrysalis plots to leach her army of Changelings onto Christmas Town so they can feed off the love from every citizen, due to Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer being beloved by everyone for saving Christmas with his red glowing nose. However, Chrysalis was unable to leach her invasion as she learned that Shadow Joe and his friends arrived at the same time, forcing her to formulate a plan to get Shadow Joe away from the town so she can unleash her army without his interference. Fortunately, Ronno has unintentional made Shadow Joe leave Christmas Town by manipulating Arrow to say horrible things to Bambi to make him feel depressed, causing the young prince run out of Christmas Town in tears and thus forcing Shadow Joe to search for Bambi in a terrified snowstorm (created by Shadow Aaron in attempt to ruin Christmas), and allowing Chrysalis to let her Changelings to attack Christmas Town and everyone in sight. Chrysalis ordered some of the Changelings to find Shadow Joe and make sure that he didn't return until the invasion is accomplished as planned. The Changelings eventually found Shadow Joe with some of his friends and start to battle them while turning themselves into various versions of Rudolph during the course of the fight. After defeating the Changelings which Chrysalis send to distracted him, Shadow Joe and his allies returns to Christmas Town with Bambi and begun to fight the entire army with the help of his friends. Ultimately, Shadow Joe creates a massive snowball to trap Chrysalis and the whole Changeling army and send them flying out of Christmas Town.

Character What: Hero Times[]

In Return of Friendship, Queen Chrysalis used a small army of Changelings in a war against the Forces of Good, conflicting a major battle between the two groups. The Changelings disguised themselves as the heroes to get better advantage other the real ones. However, Shadow Joe and Twilight Sparkle returns. Thanks to their assistance, the heroes managed to get the upper hand and overwhelmed the entire Changeling army, causing the whole swarm to cowardly retreat out of the orders of Chrysalis.

Character What: Villains Revenge[]

The Changelings along with Queen Chrysalis makes their return in the two-part episode, The Return of Queen Chrysalis, as the main villains. Some point after Shadow Aaron was defeated by the Mane Six and Shadow Joe, and turned to stone by the Elements of Harmony, Chrysalis enacts her to seek vengeance on Twilight Sparkle and Shadow Joe by invading Canterlot with her Changeling army. Chrysalis orders her Changelings to attack everypony in sight, but Shadow Joe summons a army of heroes to fight against the Changelings, which results a battle between the heroes and the Changelings. However, upon realizing that they had no match for the heroes, the Changelings are forced to flee away in retreat, leaving Queen Chrysalis to fight Shadow Joe and Mane Six by herself.

Character What: The Last Stand[]

In Villains Turn Evil, several reformed Changelings attend Shadow Joe's Villain Criminology Museum to see all of the exhibits. Like all of the reformed villains in the museum, the Changelings was turned back into their former evil self and re-join Shadow Aaron's empire. However, in Villains Turn Good, the Changelings were reformed once more after Shadow Joe free them along with other the reformed villains from Shadow Aaron's corruption.

Personality[]

Much their canon counterparts, Changelings are evil, cruel, and mischievous creatures. However, Thorax is the exact opposite, as he was the only known Changeling to be kind-hearted and had no intention of being evil. Upon their reformation in the 11th series, they're all became more friendly than they were before, except for Queen Chrysalis who refuse to change her ways and became an outsider of her species.

In Villains Turned Evil, when they were under Shadow Aaron's corrupting influence, they became more evil and violent than they were before. However, in Villains Turned Good, when the Changelings were free from Shadow Aaron's corruption thanks to Shadow Joe, they regained their friendly personalities.

Powers and Abilities[]

• Shape-Shifting: Changelings can shapeshift into any creature, including inanimate objects.
• Flight: Changelings can fly into the air using her insect-like wings.
• Enhanced Durability: Changelings was able to survive being blasted away thousands of feet and directly land on the ground without serious injury. They are possibly imperious to nearly all forms of damage.
• Enhanced Smell: Changelings seem to have a good sense of smell, as one Changeling pick up the scent of Starlight Glimmer and Trixie Lulamoon when they were under an invisibility spell.
• Love Absorption: Changelings can drain the love out of any living creature to feed herself, leaving his victims weak and frail.
• Goo Generation: Changelings can spit sticky green slime out of her mouth to trap her targets.
