The Darkness, currently known as Amara, is the overarching antagonist of Xander Michael Shelton's Heaven and Earth franchise. She is God's older twin sister and arch-nemesis, as well as Emperor Satan's aunt and master.

She was the pre-existing goddess of darkness and nothingness and the elder sister of her fellow pre-existing deities. She sought to return the Prime Omniverse to its original state of chaos and void.

Biography[]

Origins[]

As the pre-existing goddess of chaos and nothingness, The Darkness lived in the Abyss for countless eons. She was satisfied to be the only being in existence. However, The Light, Death, Life, and Father Time came into existence after her. She was furious at their existence. The Light created the Prime Omniverse, but The Darkness nearly destroyed it with a wave of her hand. However, The Light protected the Prime Omniverse from complete destruction. The Darkness summoned her abyssal army to defeat and kill her brother. The Light created the Heavenly Republic to fight and defeat her.

The Heavenly Republic and the Army of the Darkness clashed with each other. While the Archangels battled the Prime Demon Trio, The Light and The Darkness clashed, with the latter striking first. The Darkness defeated her brother near the end of their fight. As she attempted to kill The Light, the Archangels locked her up in Archangel Chains. The Darkness tried to break free from the chains, but The Light cast her back into the Abyss. The Heavenly Republic banished the abyssal army back to the Abyss.

Personality[]

The Darkness is the exact opposite of everything God is, being truly megalomaniac, evil, chaotic, omnicidal, and malevolent. She hates creation and wishes only to see it burned down to smoldering ash. She doesn't hold any love for her brother.

The Darkness sees humanity as mere playthings. She calls them misguided, naive toys for their personal amusement. She uses them against God by often tempting them with various taboos.

If there is truly anything she actually loves, it is her favorite nephew, Emperor Satan. It is revealed that she created the Amulet of the Darkness to protect him from complete destruction, showing true care for him. She is hurt when Satan uses her just to get whatever he wants, and she doesn't make any effort to destroy him.
