James Ransone has joined the cast of HBO’s “Treme.”

He has signed on for a recurring role throughout next season as a New York City restaurant worker.

Created by David Simon, the show revolves around the intersecting stories of New Orleans residents trying to overcome the challenges of post-Katrina life.

It stars Khandi Alexander, Kim Dickens, Melissa Leo, Wendell Pierce and Steve Zahn, with the second season set to begin production in early 2011.

Ransone starred in Simon’s longform “Generation Kill,” for HBO as well as had a recurring role on “The Wire.” He can be seen next in “The Next Three Days” and “The Son of No One.”
