Biography[]
After the critical acclaim and box office smash that was Spider-Man 2, director Sam Raimi was began work on a potential third film. He initially decided on choosing Adrian Toomes/The Vulture as the new villain, whereas Eddie Brock was just a minor supporting role originally. Like with Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus in the previous films, Vulture was one of Raimi's favorite Spider-Man villains, so naturally he was interested in including the character.
Vulture apparently would have been an accomplice of Flint Marko and this is supported by the concept art that got released. It is more less unknown how much more the character would have fit into the original story. Actor Ben Kingsley was the first choice to play the role. However the character ended up being scrapped for Venom, as producer Avi Arad felt that Raimi was picking favorites with villains and that including Venom would boost sales as the character was more popular with fans. Raimi then scrapped Vulture and gave Eddie Brock a larger role in the story.
