Matilda Wormwood is the titular main protagonist of the unpublished versions of the 1988 Roald Dahl novel Matilda.
Personality[]
In the first version, Matilda Wormwood was far more villainous than she is in the published version of the novel. Roald Dahl clearly made her to seem evil, which shocked his co-workers. Roald Dahl later said that he completely got her character wrong, and remade the story from the beginning, making that she sounds like an innocent girl, who is mistreated by her family, and the headmistress Agatha Trunchbull, but she still keeps her evil and sadistic side, albeit much less than in the original novel.
