The Tale of Motel Rowden

Me Tie Dough-ty Walker!

Listen well, proud high-tiers! For the Tale of Motel Rowden is a cautionary story that serves to remind all that no matter your power level, there is no overcoming the festering, undying malice towards this sinful, cruel world of ours!

Synopsis[]

The Tale of Motel Rowden 01

Is that the episode where John dies? It is, isn't it?

Once at Motel Rowden (no affiliation with Rowden Resort), a terrible crime was committed against a woman. She was strangled to death by a high-tier in Room 414. Whether or not her murderer faced justice for their crime, one thing is for certain: Room 414 was never the same again. Anybody who had booked the room since then felt a chilling presence. Many guests have claimed to hear unearthly screams after dark. Others were convinced that they saw an eerie woman's reflection in the bathroom mirror. Of course, there were those who didn't speak of any supernatural anomalies...BECAUSE THEY WERE NEVER SEEN AGAIN!

The Tale of Motel Rowden 02

Where is my to-o-o-o-o-e?

But one high-tier was determined to prove that there was no such thing as a haunted motel room. Many tried to dissuade him from his mission, but pride wouldn't allow him to chicken out. He booked Room 414 for three nights, whereas most others scarcely made it through one. The high-tier would rationalize everything that went bump in the night. Bloodcurdling screams? The wind. Spooky figures in the mirror? Bad lighting. And no matter how much others pleaded for him to get out before it was too late, he dismissed their concerns and settled in for the final evening.

The Tale of Motel Rowden 03

YOU'VE GOT IT!

Nature called in the dead of night, and the high-tier went to use the restroom. But when he was washing his hands afterwards, he noticed that the liquid pouring from the sink's faucet was thicker than usual. That's because it wasn't water, but blood! The high-tier didn't have time to register the horror of this moment before something from behind him wrapped its icy fingers around his throat. He was unable to breathe and powerless to fight back, strong though he was. In his final moments, he looked into to the bathroom mirror and clearly saw a reflection that was not his own staring back at him.

IT WAS THE STRANGLED VICTIM, HER FLESH ROTTING OFF HER BONES!

History[]

During the Safe House's field trip to Rowden, Evie shared this ghost story with her fellow club mates. She topped off the ending with by using her ability to light up her face from below. Her twisted grin and loud delivery of the ending did the trick, and her audience got the willies. But the real shocker was the audible "THUD" resulting from John falling off of his chair. Scary stories weren't his thing, especially when told in the dark. Nonetheless, he didn't turn down the group's invitation to stick around for more. He later wished he had.[1]

Notes and Trivia[]

Motel Rowden

You can't afford not to believe in it!

  • The eponymous motel may not actually exist, at least not according to the Safe House member who accused Evie of making it up on the spot.
  • Uru-chan is a big fan of the horror genre, and has professed a desire to pen a scary story of her own. This side story may be her way of exercising her writing chops.[2][3]
  • The woman has a similar appearance to Jane.
