Defense Juris-Diction (国際防衛機構, Kokusai Bōei Kikō, lit. "International Defense Organization"), or DJ, is a powerful international defense organization established in 2001 under the United Nations. Its primary mission is to safeguard global freedom and peace while advancing scientific research and space resource development for a better future.[1]

Overview[]

DJ operates a vast network of branches across the world, including locations in North America (Laramie), South America (Maringá), Europe (Kassel), Africa (Mombasa), Asia (Ürümqi), and Australia (Cairns). Additionally, it manages numerous research and development centers, as well as bases and stations in outer space.

The Headquarters[]

DJ's main headquarters is located in a mountainous region near Tokyo, Japan. This high-tech facility includes four towering buildings and silo-like structures connected to underground hangars via elevators, allowing for the rapid deployment of aerial weapons. The base is also equipped with a secret underground route linking it to the metropolitan area and a high-voltage discharge system to defend against attacking monsters.

Inside the headquarters, various facilities support DJ personnel, including an operation room, research and medical centers, engineering departments, and welfare facilities. The base houses approximately 3,000 staff members, with the elite HEART operating exclusively from this location.

Notes[]

  • Interestingly, in the series, the organization was never explicitly referred to as "DJ", and the headquarters was simply known as the "HEART Headquarters" (HEARTハート本部, Hāto Honbu).
  • The architectural design of DJ's headquarters was inspired by Kazusa Mall[2], a shopping complex in Kisarazu, which also served as the filming location for exterior shots in Neos[3].
