Yasushi Torisawa (酉澤 安施, Torisawa Yasushi) is a Japanese illustrator and character designer. He is renowned for being responsible for the design of the majority of Ultras and Kaiju in the Heisei Ultraman Series.

Career[]

Torisawa initially studied visual design at Tohoku Institute of Technology. After graduating, he worked at a printing company before transitioning to the gaming company Japan Telenet, where he focused on character design and package illustration for computer games. Later, in the 1990s, he joined Daiei Studio, creating artwork for interactive games on the Super Famicom/Super Nintendo.

In 1996, Torisawa left Daiei Studio and became a freelance artist. He became involved in various fields including game planning, design and illustration, commercial direction, and film production. During this time, he contributed to the character and monster designs of numerous renowned works, including the Godzilla series, Kamen Rider series, and Ultraman series.[1]
