The GGF (Global Guardian Force) [1] is a cross-national defense organization formed by the world governments to combat kaiju and alien threats. The main branch seen in Ultraman Blazar is GGFJ (Global Guardian Force Japan) [2][3], the parent organization of the SKaRD.
Overview[]
The Global Guardian Force is a defense organization formed by numerous nations. It has an extensive structure and accumulated experience spanning more than five decades. Despite being an experienced organization, the GGF has recently begun to show signs of incompetence in fighting kaiju due to their frequent appearances and in different locations.[1]
The GGF has multiple branches and each possesses their own armed forces, intelligence, and other support units. Oftentimes, GGF members would travel to other parts of the world to assist in missions and kaiju and/or alien elimination operations. Some branches, such as the Japan Branch, have their unique special forces units.
History[]
Pre-Ultraman Blazar[]
Formation of the GGF[]
In a world that constantly faced climate changes, pollution, and space development, its people were also being threatened by both terrestrial and extraterrestrial kaiju and alien invaders. In response, the Global Guardian Force was formed by countries worldwide in 1966.[1]
Encounter with Extraterrestrial Life and Related Incidents[]
On July 2, 1999, GGF's surveillance satellite XXP 728 detected an unidentified flying object near Earth's orbit. In response, GGF's headquarters in the United States issued a secondary defense readiness notification to branch bases, including GGFJ. Just over two hours later, it was observed that the flying object was gradually approaching Earth.
At the same time, mysterious sound waves were transmitted to Earth. These waves caused significant discomfort to humans, leading GGFJ CP to interpret them as signs of an alien invasion. Following this interpretation, under the command of Yu Dobashi, the First Commander of the 1st Space Defense Missile Group, an intercept missile was launched and successfully hit the flying object. The object was destroyed and crashed into the Sea of Japan, with the wreckage later recovered by the headquarters in the United States.
After investigation, the spacecraft was found to possess advanced technology not currently known to humanity, including a highly efficient and energy-saving wormhole generation device for long-distance space travel, and extraction devices for superheavy elements. However, no offensive weapons were found on the spacecraft. GGF designated the object as "V99" and began concealing the incident of its interception along with the related discoveries. Reports on the handling of documents were treated as highly classified information and sealed. The wreckage of the spacecraft was utilized to aid in the secret construction of Earth Garon and the development of the wormhole device.
In 2001, the GGF discovered an unknown amorphous species attached to a meteorite that arrived on Earth. The life forms were recovered and tested, in which they were discovered to possess strong self-regenerative capabilities. It was also observed that they would cease all signs of activity if they were placed in below freezing temperatures, while reheating them would revive their life functions. Although the species was suspected to be related to space kaiju, the GGF was inconclusive on the matter. A classified observation record was printed in 2002.
As the GGF made its transition to digital in 2003, a large number of old physical records were destroyed. Amidst the confusion, GGF member Hiroshi Sonezaki of the Chemical Department discovered and stole classified documents and cell samples of the alien amorphous species. In 2005, he resigned from the GGF and erased his records before founding the chemical company Novaio. Thus Fought Emi
2020 Test Facility 66 Explosion Incident[]
After undergoing testing by the headquarters in the United States, samples of the wreckage of V99 were sent back to Japan for research and analysis in 2020. Additionally, a wormhole experiment facility was established at Test Facility 66 of the Space Systems Research Center in the mountainous area of Gifu Prefecture.
On September 9, 2020, at 7:30 PM, a significant explosion occurred within the experimental facility, causing temporary chaos in the surrounding area. Most personnel were promptly evacuated outdoors, and although a minor fire ensued, there were concerns about possible radioactive leaks. Consequently, the facility was subsequently declared a restricted area. It is believed that during that explosion, a wormhole connected Ultraman Blazar's hometown, M421. Through this transcendent tunnel, Blazar merged with Gento Hiruma, the captain of the SMB team who was on a rescue mission at the time.
In this incident, several research personnel went missing, and initial reports only confirmed the unfortunate deaths of three individuals. The lists of all the deceased, injured, and missing personnel were also considered classified documents and sealed. .Moonlit Memories
Ultraman Blazar[]
Creation of a GGFJ Special Detachment[]
In recent times, kaiju and alien threats have become more and more common. Because of this, the GGF was constantly at a disadvantage. To efficiently analyze kaiju and devise effective counter plans against them, Chief of Staff Retsu Haruno of the Japan Branch secretly created the unique SKaRD unit. The Man who Created SKaRD
Battle of Bazanga and Sighting of Ultraman[]
On 10th May 2023, the first space kaiju officially recorded in human history, Bazanga, made its landing in Ikebukuro, Tokyo.[4] The GGF Japan Branch conceived a joint ground, sea, and air operation to defeat the kaiju. Ikebukuro was evacuated and designated as the final defense line. Thus, the Bazanga Elimination Operation commenced. A possible weak point was found on the kaiju, gill-like organs around its chest that were used for respiration. Special rounds were created to be shot into these openings and disable its internal functions. Two teams from the 1st Special Mobile Brigade, led by Captain Gento, were dispatched by air to deliver the special rounds to the target. A command post was set up in one of the high-rise buildings to direct the operation.First Wave Unbeknownst to the 1st SMB however, due to miscommunication within the GGFJ, the weak point was not the gills but the nose. The Man who Created SKaRD
Ground forces were the first to arrive at the scene, followed by F-35 Lightning II fighter squadrons Skyhunter and Ulysses, special forces, and naval forces. Initial artillery and missile attacks on Bazanga proved ineffective, including bombing runs by the fighters. Attacks were temporarily suspended to allow the special forces to perform a HALO jump and head to the designated Firing Points 1 and 2. Naval forces reported they had crossed the expressway, Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line, and were awaiting firing parameters. Ground vehicles were ordered to relocate to their new positions. Bazanga's firing of its Organic Blasters escalated the severity of the battle, prompting Command to abandon the current operation. Instead, they intended to defeat the kaiju with all available firepower. The local command post was ordered to relocate, this was noticed by Gento and his teams.
Acknowledging high command's decisions, Captain Gento upheld the original operation and requested diversion support from the fighter squadrons. The fighters were able to partially lure Bazanga to Gento's teams before being forced to break away due to the kaiju's counterattack. Gento's plan was further disrupted by the ground forces, who were rushed by Command to attack the kaiju. The kaiju reacted with anger and damaged the surrounding area with its arms and tail. The result caused damages to Point 2's building, paralyzing the SMB members. Gento, equipped with his subordinate's jet pack, flew from Point 1 to the collapsed building to rescue the teammates. Having confirmed his teammates' condition, Gento resumed the operation. Synchronized with the team at Point 1, Gento launched Point 2's special round at the kaiju's chest area. Despite both rounds hitting their target, they yielded zero effect. Instead, the kaiju was further enraged. The SMB's objective shifted to retreating from the area.
A giant of light, code-named Ultraman, appeared suddenly and caught a falling building that was about to crush Gento and his teammates. Its appearance and subsequent fight with Bazanga forced the GGF to cease fire and observe the situation, while fighters returned to base for rearming and refueling. Around the same time, the GGF's Contingency Command Post dispatched one of its operatives to a nearby building. The operative, armed with a missile launcher, looked for the right timing and fired a special round into the kaiju's nose. After confirming a successful hit, she followed the CCP's orders and left the scene. Unlike the previous two rounds, the third special round was able to disable parts of Bazanga's internal functions and prevent it from using its Organic Blasters. With Bazanga defeated by the hands of Ultraman, the Bazanga Elimination Operation concluded.First Wave
Battle Record[]
On 11th May 2023, the next morning after the Bazanga Elimination Operation, a civilian freighter had been reported sunk by an aquatic kaiju. A submarine unit was sent to hunt down the kaiju. However, the skirmish concluded with at least two submarines sunk and serious damage dealt to the unit. The GGF deployed the area's full naval force to intercept the kaiju. Unfortunately, it also failed and the naval forces were decimated.
When Gedos made its landing and advanced towards a fish paste processing plant, it was met with volleys of air-to-ground missiles. The kaiju was resistant to the missiles as it shove its head into the processing plant, consuming all the fish paste. Further attacks were called off after receiving orders from a SKaRD member. The operation was subsequently handed to the SKaRD. After the unknown humanoid life form, now code-named Ultraman Blazar, made its appearance again and defeated Gedos, the elimination operation of Gedos concluded. The Man who Created SKaRD
The GGF had taken notice of a series of incidents involving destroyed teaterium storage tanks in Europe and North America, since 29th April 2023. They suspected the incidents were related to a kaiju's doing and shared their intel with the SKaRD. However, because of the aftermath of the battles against Bazanga and Gedos, the GGF did not have the time to spare to deal with overseas affairs. Several weeks after the Battle of Gedos, Taganular emerged from the underground at the Energy Fusion Institute in Kutsuba City, Ibaraki.
The GGFJ launched a general offensive at it and sortied the aerial forces. The aerial forces sent waves of missiles at the kaiju, uninformed of the risk of triggering a large-scale explosion if they were to defeat the kaiju. The arrival of Earth Garon interrupted the aerial forces' attacks, which prompted their commander to warn the SKaRD members. After a brief exchange of talks between the commander and SKaRD Captain Gento, the GGFJ called off the attacks and gave way for Earth Garon. The elimination operation concluded with the kaiju defeated under the hands of Ultraman Blazar, without the risk of a large explosion. The Name is Earth Garon
Since 16th March 2023, a molluscan kaiju code named Leviera had been attacking cities randomly for three months. The discovery of Novaio's antimicrobial FK1's effectiveness in repelling the kaiju led to the GGF purchasing provisions from the chemical company. From then on, the GGF would use the FK1 against the kaiju. However, the kaiju could never be fully defeated and thus the antimicrobial only served as a stopgap. Leviera was ultimately defeated on 7th June 2023 by the combined efforts of Earth Garon and Ultraman Blazar. Novaio's CEO and former-GGF member Hiroshi Sonezaki was arrested for stealing classified documents and extraterrestrial cell samples, and using them to clone-create kaiju. Thus Fought Emi
Given the individuals involved and the sensitive nature of this case, GGF subsequently issued a gag order on any public discussion regarding this incident.
Testing of the Mega Shot[]
To conduct performance testing for the newest railgun system, Mega Shot, the GGF installed a pair of such turrets on a mountain at the Mt. Kirino Training Area, Ichinoji Village, Akita Prefecture. When the GGF had to remove a shrine that was obstructing the pathway for the supply convoy, the members were met with protests from a villager. The villager, Mizuho, warned them about the awakening of Dorgo upon removing the Shintai from its shrine. The GGF listened to her warnings and conducted a proper soil survey. However, they reported zero findings on the existence of a kaiju. The shrine was demolished and its surrounding areas were set up for the Mega Shot turrets. Unbeknownst to the GGF, the turrets were installed on a kaiju's back.
In cooperation with the SKaRD's Earth Garon, the performance testing was a success until the awakening of Dorgo. Shortly after the kaiju returned to its slumber, a fire in the turrets' backup generators caused the turrets to go haywire and reawaken the kaiju. When Ultraman Blazar appeared and confronted Dorgo, the Mega Shot turrets' self-defense system activated and attacked the giant. The turrets were ultimately forcibly removed from the kaiju by the combined efforts of Earth Garon and Blazar. The Mountain Roars
After this incident occurred, GGF entered a state of heightened alert. Due to the gravity of the event and its potential sensitivity, they declined interview requests from both the public and the media, citing an ongoing investigation as the reason.Uncover the True Identity of the Giant Creatures
With the ongoing operations of SKaRD, this small-scale task force has successfully thwarted numerous incidents involving extraterrestrial beings and monsters. However, these events have not been disclosed to the public. Additionally, following the Nijikagachi Attack that occurred throughout the Japanese archipelago from July 21st to 23rd, the suspect involved, Kazunori Yokomine, was ultimately released by the GGF due to insufficient evidence.Rainbow Appears: Part 2
Battle of Demaaga[]
In August 2023, a series of earthquakes in Oniwaku Valley, Yamanashi Prefecture, drew the attention of the GGF. The discovery of a massive rock-like object in the area prompted the GGF to promptly dispatch a specialized investigative team for further examination. This discovery also garnered significant interest from the news media and the general public.
The following day, the GGF's Monster Egg Handling Team continued their investigation. The monster egg cracked open, giving birth to a juvenile creature named Demaaga. GGF members on-site attempted to calm Baby Demaaga using tranquilizer guns to induce sleep. However, Baby Demaaga emitted distressing screams, attracting the appearance of an adult Demaaga. Consequently, the GGF issued a Kaiju alert, urging the people present to evacuate via designated evacuation routes.
The GGF command center decided to initiate a mission aimed at the extermination of two Demaaga creatures. Part of the plan involved instructing on-site personnel to use high-voltage net guns to immobilize Baby Demaaga, rendering it incapable of movement. Simultaneously, they alerted SKaRD to deploy Earth Garon Mod.2 to the scene, prepared for an offensive operation. As Demaaga attempted to protect its offspring, the GGF launched the first wave of missile attacks, while Earth Garon Mod.2 arrived and initiated an assault on the creatures. When Earth Garon faced difficulties, the GGF launched a second wave of missile attacks.
Subsequently, Ultraman Blazar made an appearance, prompting the GGF command center to launch a third wave of missile attacks. However, Blazar countered this assault with a powerful roar. Ultimately, the Demaaga parent and child were safeguarded within a cocoon of light created by Blazar's Spiral Burrade, and they were sent underground, marking the conclusion of the mission.Parent and Child
The truth about V99[]
Since the attack by what's known as the "Second Wave" of the Gebalga invasion on Earth, which was thwarted by Ultraman Blazar, GGFJ seems to have become more vigilant regarding space kaiju. Apart from taking control over SKaRD and halting their investigations and actions, they have also implemented measures such as forcibly testing weapons against space kaiju.
On January 20, 2024, what's known as the "Third Wave," Varallon, crashed onto Tokyo, Japan, from Moon orbit, initiating devastating destruction upon the city. Meanwhile, in lunar orbit, a fleet of thirteen spherical vessels appeared, assuming a combat formation. With the knowledge of V99's existence already disseminated among all SKaRD members and the confirmation that the previous two space kaiju were merely defensive reactions of V99 against Earth's attacks, Dobashi, tasked with concealing this fact, interpreted V99's arrival as a sign of impatience from the other side. Consequently, he dispatched fleets as a precursor to retaliation. He also demanded the commander to relay a message to the highest commander at the headquarters in the United States, signaling the imminent arrival of the "Fourth Wave." This prompted GGF forces from various countries to prepare interception teams, targeting the fleet of V99 for interception.
Upon learning that V99 had no intentions of aggression, Emi Aobe, a member of SKaRD, requested the Global GGF via GGFJ CP to cease its interception posture towards the fleet. Following this, Haruno assumed command and issued the fourth wave's stand-down alert. Eventually, the Global GGF ceased its preparations for attack. Upon receiving Emi's message of "future", V99 seemed to understand human intentions and responded with a similar "future", initiating a withdrawal. This action averted the worst-case scenario of full-scale war between Earth and V99. The war against the space kaijus ultimately ended with the assistance of Ultraman Blazar. The Ones Who Embrace the Earth
