Tanaka's son, Hikaru Tanaka, is also a voice actor.

Death[]

On August 20, 2024, Tanaka's son announced that she had passed away of an undisclosed illness on that day.^[1][2][3] Many other voice actors paid their respects.^[4]

• Among the colleagues mourning for her death was the voice actor Tomokazu Seki, who recounted having debuted in voice acting almost at the same time as Tanaka (Mobile Suit Victory Gundam). The two had also participated in rakugo and formed a close friendship in behind the scenes.^[5]
