– Seiko describing the Nadashinkage-ryuu to Kiichi. |
The Nadashinkage-ryuu (灘神影流, Nadashinkage-ryū; literally: "Profoundly Genuine Shadow Style") [1] is a form of martial arts passed down within the Mizayawa family for generations. The 15th and current Grandmaster of the art is Kiichi Miyazawa.
The style's full name is Nadashinkage-ryuu Kassatsu-jutsu (灘神影流活殺術, Nadashinkage-ryū Kassatsu-jutsu).
Overview[]
Nadashinkage-ryuu is a style of martial arts beyond comparison and thus has always been kept away from outsiders. Specializing in assassination techniques, users calculate their strikes in order to deliver the most power as possible whilst using the least amount of strength.
It is a complete form of combat which does not limit itself to just striking and grappling techniques, but also integrates other Chinese disciplines like the projection techniques of Shukkaku, the use of attacks focused on the body's weakpoints (such as vitals and joints) from Sanda, and even the utilization of “Kushuda-So" (or "To Wrest a Lance with Bare Hands") to face off against opponents who're armed.
Passed down from generation to generation directly from the chief of the clan to the heir, each practitioner has an incredible knowledge of human anatomy and (in a more classical approach to martial arts training) only the barest minimum of techniques are taught to the students and so they're left to discover their own personal fighting style through constant combat and practice with different martial arts schools.
The Nadashinkage-ryuu consists of a lot of combat modes, for example: A kind of trance, fighting is a form of combat that can only be used once the user has lost consciousness, based on the idea that being unconscious will prevent the user from being affected by any attack traumatizing the brain since trying to counter force with more force has an adverse effect, especially with combat styles such as aikido and judo.
However, an unconscious body will react instinctively to the blows coming and because of that they don't try to fight against the force, instead they allow their extraordinary fighting instincts to guides their actions; letting them become as natural as breathing which helps to increase the accuracy and powers of their attacks beyond comparison.
There are three types of innate leg strength in the Nadashinkage family. The "Falcon Foot", the speed of which can be compared to that of a falcon. The "Dragon Foot" with flexibility worthy of a dragon, allowing it to take any direction. The "Tiger Foot" so powerful when released that it can be compared to a tiger leaping forward. All three are extremely robust and remain the privilege of the Miyazawa line.
The Nadashinkage-ryuu training room is a small building, at bay side. It is mainly used by Kiichi and Seiko Miyazawa to train Kiichi's fighting style abilities.
Philosophy[]
Since the dawn of mankind, medicine and martial arts have been intimately linked, it is because of this fact Nadashinkage-ryuu is a style of assassination which is also capable of healing. Practitoners of Nadashinkage-ryuu live by a warrior’s code in which defeat is paramount to death, so, only by experiencing death can its users learn to revere life. This is the true nature of the Nadashinkage-ryuu at times, a way of killing in order to protect.
History[]
Nadashinkage-ryuu is a mixed martial art style passed down to only the heirs of the Nadashinkage-ryuu clan. Nadashinkage-ryuu was modeled after, or copied, after the Nadashinyou-ryuu. It also shares roots with Yuugenshinkage-ryuu and Hagyuu-ryuu Taijutsu. Nadashinkage-ryuu was first used during World War 2, at the school of Nadashinkage-ryuu, where a group of assassin's founded the art style, not having much concern for the special services needed during the war.
Notable techniques[]
- Bosatsuken: A move where the user abandons their guard and begins praying for the salvation of their opponents, then once the opponent is ready going to strike, they pierce the heart with both hands.
- Exploding Vermilion Fist: A technique in which the user concentrates all of their energy into one part of the fist before striking the tanden of an opponent, causing them to explode.
- Gentotsu: The user harnesses seismic vibrations through their body, producing sonic waves which are sent hurtling towards the target.
- Hashin Shou: A technique that utilizes the impact force of the user's attack to stop the heart of a person.
- Kaikanken: A move is an energy projection technique similar to Hakkei, which uses sharp, precision strikes to transmit destructive force directly into the target.
- Kaishuken: A very lethal technique that if perfectly executed will inevitably cause death in 5 years.
- Kasumidzuki: A move that allows a person to moves his arm so fast human eyes cannot see them.
