The Dragon King (竜王, Ryūō) is the only known and the most powerful of all Derous and is the renowned ruler of Area 1. As the most powerful creature in Area 1, it holds absolute rule over one of the major areas in Gourmet World, making it a member of the Eight Kings, the eight most powerful beasts in the world.

Appearance[]

The current Dragon King that rules over all Derous is truly mastodontic in size coupled with a extreme muscular body structure. Befitting its obscene monolithic size, its claws are large enough to topple over and grasp mountains with ease. It has light brown skin, with the bottom part of its body being light in color.

Personality[]

Not much is known about the Dragon King's personality, but being one of the Eight Kings it is likely a fearless entity.

Powers and Abilities[]

As one of the Eight Kings, the Dragon King holds immense power which are feared by many across Gourmet World.

Awareness[]

Aside from the Dragon King's immeasurable strength and power, what truly makes this mighty creature as 'king' is its "sensitivity" to nature, much like how small animals can sense predatory threats, changes in the weather, or imminent natural disasters. This allows the Dragon King to sense tiny occurrence across the planet which may prove important to its survival, to a far greater extent than even the most keen animals. Even non-natural crises and events can be detected or anticipated by the Dragon King, such as its detection of Toriko's rising power following his duel with Starjun. This nearly omniscient power is what has ultimately allowed the Dragon King and its descendants in question to survive countless mass-extinction events which otherwise would have been lethal even to them.

Techniques[]

Extra-Dimensional Laser (異次元レーザー, Ijigen Rēzā): From each of its tongues, the Dragon King fires beams of energy, which pool into a single ray of Gourmet Energy. This beam is fast enough to the point that even Acacia is unable to bring out Neo in time to consume it, and is long lasting enough to travel outside the planet's boundaries and into space, while retaining enough destructive force to tear apart several planets and other objects in space that are in its path.[1] When charged with every ounce of the Dragon King's energy, its Extra-Dimensional Laser is capable of killing even the Whale King, Moon. [2]

Cooking Festival Arc[]

During the Human World conflict, the Eight Kings sensed a new power coming. Despite sensing the almost insignificant power, all of the Eight Kings became aware of it.

AIR Arc[]

Just after the Heavenly Kings, Komatsu, and the Hex Food Beast Knights captured AIR, Heracles takes no chance of missing an opportunity to give birth so she quickly ends the battle between her and Toriko and proceeds to consume the high amounts of fresh air that has blanketed Area 8. After giving birth, the new foal proceeds to travel on the Rainbow Bridges and once more revives the age old tradition of the Herac Response. As the foal lets out its mighty voice to let its presence be known, the Deer King, along with the rest of the Eight Kings, hears the call of the young Herac.

ANOTHER Arc[]

Teppei mentions that the Dragon King and the other Eight Kings have begun moving.^[3] After Jiro's death, "Wolf King" Guinness lets out a howl, calling to the rest of the Eight Kings.^[4]

GOD Arc[]

Answering the call to arms made by Wolf King Guinness, the Dragon King eventually arrives with the rest of the Eight Kings to confront Acacia and Neo. Soon, after the Wolf King throws Acacia into the path of the Dragon King, the latter proceeds to showcase its great power against Acacia with its powerful Extra-Dimensional Laser technique that, while unable to kill Acacia, still leaves a lasting, if not fearful impression as the laser goes on to exceed Earth's very boundaries and into deep space, casually destroying asteroids along the way.^[5]

In a joint effort with with the Whale King along with the Snake King's sacrifice to take out Neo, the Dragon King once again used its Extra-Dimensional Laser charged to its fullest to kill Whale King who had swallowed Neo, but the effort failed. In his most recent attempt, the Dragon King used its Extra-Dimensional Laser once again along with the others' most powerful attacks to kill Acacia, which ultimately failed. After killing Guinness, Acacia went after the Dragon King. The Dragon King managed to use its single fang to impale Acacia, but Acacia mortally wounded the Dragon King by biting off the Dragon King's head by the neck and almost killed it. But the Dragon King was healed by CENTER saving its life. It was last seen standing watch with the other Eight Kings as a defeated Neo vomited every ingredient it had ever eaten.

But since the Dragon King suffered defeat at the hands of Acacia, it could no longer consider itself a king and retired from its position with the 6 other remaining Eight Kings. This power vacuum caused a struggle for power in the Gourmet world to decide on the new rulers.
