Coach Collins is a physical education teacher, head football and swimming coach at Willie T. Ribbs Middle School.
He is often called "Coach Daddy" by his son Michael Collins, which he does not want to be called that. Once, Penny sued him in court for gender discrimination when he refused to let her join the school football team.[1]
Personality[]
Coach Collins works at Willie T. Ribbs Middle School, and takes his job very seriously. Despite his rocky relationships with Penny and LaCienega, Coach Collins has the capability of being a decent person, as he greets his class in a polite way in “Love Thy Neighbor”. However, he can be aggressive and and hostile, like when he yells at his own son Michael to stop calling him “Daddy” in public, due to his own embarrassment of his son.
Even with his harsh demeanor with this son, it is implied, like Oscar, that Coach Collins is overprotective of his son, as Michael states, “My dad tried to do the same thing to me.” after he sees Penny’s dad try to get her into a navy suit due to his overprotective nature.
Trivia[]
- With the sequel Series, it's implied that Collins is embarrassed because his son is feminine. Though, Michael not mentioning anything else about Collins when it comes to his life choices implies that Collins is fine with Michael's sexuality.
