Who Am I? was a feature released exclusively on the BBC's Cheapserve website on 10 May 2006[1] to coincide with series two of Doctor Who, specifically the story The Age of Steel; it also formed a crossover with the ongoing narrative on the Who is Doctor Who? tie-in website, indirectly addressing the departure of Mickey Smith in The Age of Steel. It was written by Joseph Lidster.[2]

The short story was styled to look like the final update on David R's Cheapserve profile.

Summary[]

David R, a seventeen-year-old in Deffry Vale, wishes farewell to Cheapserve as he is "helping a friend who knows the truth" by taking on responsibility of looking after his website instead. David thanks everyone for their support, and signs out.

Notes[]

  • This story implies that David R had met Mickey Smith in School Reunion and bonded over their interest of exposing the truth. However, in School Reunion, this sort of character was taken by Kenny and it is unexplained why he was not the child Mickey befriended.
  • As this story is hosted on the Cheapserve website, it is indirectly a crossover with the 2005 alternate reality game Jamie Kane.
  • The picture of John F. Kennedy on the site is a cropped and compressed version of a photograph taken on 25 May 1989 of John F. Kennedy Jr. talking to Jackie Kennedy beneath a portrait of JFK Sr. at the JFK Library.[3]
