Wewelsburg was a village in the region of Westphalia in western Germany. The historic Wewelsburg Castle was located there.
During the time of the Roman Empire, Arminius battled the Romans nearby where the village stood. Many people died.
In the 20th century, during the reign of the Nazis and the Second World War, Heinrich Himmler became the owner of the castle. He used it for Schutzstaffel induction ceremonies and mystic rituals. The Sixth Doctor met Himmler in Wewelsburg in August 1944. (PROSE: The Shadow in the Glass)
