According to one telling of a source, however, the Sycorax originated on the asteroid known as Fire Trap, (PROSE: The Visual Dictionary ^[+]Andrew Darling, Kerrie Dougherty, David John and Simon Beecroft, Dorling Kindersley (2007). History[]

The native Sycorax were split into many warring tribes before a spaceship crashed and brought them the secrets of interstellar craft. The Sycorax tribes then united to explore and exploit the rest of the cosmos, splitting their planet into an armada of many smaller asteroids which they piloted across the stars, taking over worlds by stealth or conquest. Centuries later, one such ship, the Fire Trap, (PROSE: The Time Traveller's Almanac ^[+]Steve Tribe, BBC Books (2008). Chapter 3, "Everything Changes"; Pages 78-79.) attempted to claim the planet Earth, only to be destroyed by an alien weapon on the order of British Prime Minister Harriet Jones.
