Simon Williams (born 16 June 1946^[1]) played Group Captain Ian Gilmore in the Doctor Who television story Remembrance of the Daleks and reprised his role in the Big Finish spin-off series Counter-Measures and 1963: The Assassination Games, The Reesinger Process and The Split Infinitive. He also voiced several other roles in various Big Finish Doctor Who audio stories and spin-offs.

On the DVD audio commentary for Remembrance of the Daleks, Sophie Aldred mentions that she was especially nervous to be working with Williams because she used to fancy him when he appeared in Upstairs, Downstairs.

He was previously considered for the roles of George Cranleigh in Black Orchid, Lieutenant Scott in Earthshock, Eirak in Terminus (TCH 37), Commander Vorshak in Warriors of the Deep. (TCH 38), Crozier in Mindwarp and Doland in Terror of the Vervoids.

He shared his memories of Remembrance of the Daleks on the documentary Back to School.

Personal life[]

He is the husband of Lucy Fleming, the father of Tam Williams and the former brother-in-law of both Kate O'Mara and Nigel Havers.

He was at school with Remembrance of the Daleks director Andrew Morgan. (DCOM: Back to School)
