Prehistory referred to the time during the development of human culture on Earth before the appearance of the written word. It was divided into three periods based on the technology used by humans at the time: the Stone, Bronze, and Iron ages. Human historians who studied Dalek history believed that Skaro had had a prehistoric era similar to Earth, one that ended when humanoid life evolved, or was transplanted onto Skaro by alien powers. (PROSE: Dalek: The Astounding Untold History of the Greatest Enemies of the Universe) Bernice Summerfield pondered if prehistoric Skaro had been one of the worlds to which the SSSSSSS had sent Aryan DNA samples to, resulting in the Thals' physical appearance. During the Last Great Time War, the Daleks attempted to time travel to prehistoric Gallifrey, to prevent the Time Lords from evolving, during an era where a large lizard-like species existed on the planet. This lizard-creature was later Time Scooped into the present day by the war-era Time Lords, (PROSE: Engines of War) potentially continuing to exist on the planet after the conflict.
