The Imperial Club was a member-only club in London for European nobility displaced by the events of the beginning of the 20th century.

It was owned by Shade Vassily, a Katurian exile, and used to mask his imprisonment. He ran the club under the alias of Mr Pooter, whom barely anyone ever saw. Mr Pooter's lodgings on the top floor were, in reality, occupied by the AI tasked with Vassily's protection. He was also lodging in the club as Lord Wyse and used this personality to manage most of the day-to-day business of the club. The cat always tailing Lord Wyse was a clockwork robot employed by the AI to keep track of his movements.

The staff of the club was headed by Crowther and included Beth, the maid.

In 1924, among the lodgers of the club, apart from Shade Vassily as Wyse, were Edward Repple, Aske, Wensleydale, Ranskill and Coleridge.

The Ninth Doctor and Rose lodged there when the TARDIS was stolen. Not being nobility, they were admitted to the club by recommendation of Repple and Aske.

Beth was killed by Melissa Heart's Mechanical. Later Melissa led the assault on the club that caused Aske and Wensleydale their lives. (PROSE: The Clockwise Man)
