"So… the long darkness has ended…"
"…and the eternity of waiting… is over."
Davros's head covered in cobwebs.
An indignant Davros is literally pushed around by the Doctor.
Davros sulks in a corner as the Doctor,
Romana II and
Tyssan talk escape routes.
The Doctor and Davros find themselves alone.
"Doctor… do you believe your puny efforts can change the course of destiny?"
"Let's just say I might tamper with it."
Rousing from his stubborn silence, Davros begins monologuing about his grandiose plans for the Daleks.
The Doctor taunts Davros with the knowledge that the Daleks don't need him and left him for dead centuries ago without looking back — until today.
Davros sits in stony silence as the Doctor works on an explosive.
"I have slept, but now I have awakened… and the universe will be sorry."
As the Daleks break in, the Doctor uses Davros as a hostage.
"We'll meet again, Doctor. Never doubt it. We'll meet again."
"…Quickly! The explosive! He will detonate!"
"Come. There is much to be done."
An ecstatic Davros zooms through the ruined corridors, Daleks following silently behind him.
Inside the Daleks' ship, Davros demands immediate transportation out of
Skaro.
"Every moment we remain on Skaro, we are vulnerable to attack!"
Davros realises the Daleks needed him because he is less logical than they are.
Davros realises the Doctor could reprogram the Movellans' computer and thus negate the edge that Davros's presence gives to the Daleks.
"Then we need more than firepower! Unpack the explosives!"
Davros gives final instructions to the Dalek suicide-bombers he has outfitted.
"I will lead… Davros! Will! LEAD!"
The Doctor's incongruous appearance sends Davros's dreams of complete victory crashing down in an instant.
"I have one more thing to do before I leave."
Davros shows the Doctor the control he will use to detonate the Daleks.
"You see? There's nothing you can do to stop it now."
"Bah! Humans do not understand logic!"
Davros is overwhelmed by a white vapour as the cryogenic freezer activates.
The cryogenic chamber's door slides open to reveal Davros.
"He's very still… Is he dead?"
Davros takes in a big gasp of air.
"You speak as though my
Daleks are no longer
capable of
war!"
"…Dalek… casualties…?!…"
Davros sputters and whimpers wildly upon hearing that the Daleks lost the
Dalek-Movellan War.
Davros argues with Lytton.
Davros shrieks about taking "his rightful place as the Daleks' Supreme Being" and leading them to triumph.
Davros opens a secret compartment in
his chair's control panel.
"Ninety years, I was frozen in that. Ninety years of mind-numbing boredom!"
"The creatures of
Earth have no stomach for
judicial murder. They prefer to leave you to rot and die… They call it being
humane."
Davros is reunited with the Daleks.
"It is vital you complete your research as soon as possible."
Davros makes his demands.
Davros commands his two newly-minted Dalek loyalists to "find out the cause of the delay".
Wide shot as Davros learns that the Doctor is within his grasp.
"I had planned to completely redesign the Daleks…"
The Doctor holds Davros at gunpoint.
"The Daleks are dead… long live the
new Daleks!"
Despite his indignant protests that he is not a Dalek and "cannot die", Davros also falls prey to the Movellan virus.
"There are bodysnatchers in the catacombs!"
Davros talks business with
Kara over a video conference call.
"Please me, and I can offer you the universe!"
Davros stokes Tasambeker's resentment towards
Jobel.
"You fools! You cannot kill me! I! Am! Davros!"
Orcini shoots at Davros at point-blank range.
Davros's head deflates, revealing itself to have been a remotely-operated proxy.
Davros reveals his real body's presence to Orcini.
The real Davros orders Orcini and
Bostock to put down their weapons.
Davros dodges a
dagger thrown by Bostock.
Now hovering, Davros electrocutes Orcini.
Davros shows Kara her own deadly transmitter.
"It is a transmitter — brought by your assassin!"
"I have never trusted you, Kara."
"There is little that is ‘common’ about Orcini."
Davros watches Kara die, stabbed by Orcini.
"Where is Peri?"
"Safe… for the time being."
The Doctor and Davros catch up.
"I am known as the Great Healer! A somewhat flippant title, perhaps… but not without foundation."
"In every way, I have complied with the wishes of those who came here in anticipation of one day being returned… to life."
Davros takes a malicious joy in letting the Doctor know he has been turning the excess bodies into food and selling that food back to the rest of
the Galaxy.
Bostock shoots Davros's hand.
Davros's stump is tended to.
"What? Is? Happening?!… Activate my Daleks!"
Davros zaps Orcini again, this time with his real ocular system.
Davros is taken into custody by one of the real,
Skarosian Daleks.
"I created you! I am your master!"
"Prepare the assault shuttle!"
The Emperor listens to the reports of his underlings on the
Renegade Daleks' position.
"Ah! Doctor! You have changed again!"
"Your appearance is as inconstant as your intelligence."
"You have confounded
me for the
last time!"
The Emperor is revealed to really be
Davros.
The Seventh Doctor recognises Davros.
"Does it worry, Doctor, that with
it, I will transform
Skaro's sun into a source of
unimaginable power?!"
"I will teach you the folly of your words, Doctor!"
Davros watches as the Hand of Omega is activated.
Davros realises he screwed up.
"Do not do this! I beg of you!"
Davros closes his
casing again, making to escape.
"Emperor abandoning bridge!"
"Emperor activating escape pod!"
A child is spotted running through the mist on a battlefield.
The child turns back to look at
Kanzo.
The child nods when asked if he "got lost".
The child freezes up in fear upon realising that there are
Handmines about.
The child watches anxiously as Kanzo realises that a Handmine has grabbed onto his own ankle.
The child notices that he is standing in a field of Handmines.
The Doctor: "I’m straight ahead of you…"
"Tell me the name of the boy who isn't going to die today!"
"…Davros. My name… is
Davros."
Seemingly asleep, Davros repears
the Doctor's name.
Davros greets the Doctor.
The Doctor stands before Davros.
"Did you suspect a trap? (…) Then why are you here? Did you miss our… conversations?"
"[Our argument]
survived the
Time War. But it
will end… tonight."
"Clara!"
"You cannot help her now, Doctor."
Davros admits that he is not in control of the Daleks.
"Predator and prey, held in the ecstasy of crisis. Is this not life at its purest?"
"Let this be my final victory. Let me hear you say it, just once… Compassion. Is. Wrong."
"I don't get it. How did you get there?"
"…Are you gonna save me?"
The Doctor and Davros walk off into the mist, hand in hand.
A
Dalek sees what has become of Davros.
"Sorry,
this seat's taken!"
"Indeed — but not by
you."
"Be certain, Colony Sarff… Tonight, we entrap a
Time Lord."
Davros spins into view of the Doctor.
"It wasn't easy to procure… and very nearly unique, of course. You should feel privileged.
The only other chair on Skaro."
Davros warns the Doctor of the futility of trying to escape.
Davros reiterates that he is dying while continuing not to die yet, to the Doctor's rising irritation.
"Look again at the cables, Doctor. Understand what they are. What they can do."
The Doctor taunts Davros once again with the Daleks' apparent disrespect for him —
— and for his apparent inability to "invent legs".
Davros looks wearily up at the Doctor.
"Respect… mercy, for their father. Design flaws I was… unable to eliminate."
Davros guides the Doctor's hand in his own.
"Why do you hesitate? No one would know.
Clara Oswald is
dead!"
Extreme close-up as Davros asks once again why the Doctor left
Gallifrey.
"How long has it been, you and I?"
"Long enough. Galaxies have burned."
"Come closer again… Let me see your face."
Davros's
artificial eye goes offline as he states he wishes to see the Doctor's face "with his own eyes" once again.
Davros opens his original eyes, with obvious difficulty.
"Take the darkest path — into the deepest
hell — but…
protect your own… as I have sought to protect mine…"
"Did I do right, Doctor? Tell me! Was I right?…"
"…I need… to know… before the end. Am I good man?"
The Doctor and Davros laugh together.
Davros's breath becomes ragged.
"Pity… I had hoped to the see sun one last time…"
Davros looks out at the Skarosian landscape, deeming it beautiful.
Davros explains how Skaro was restored while the Doctor works.
"I have always admired you, Doctor. I wish… just once… we had been on the same side."
"I… regret… I… cannot… open my eyes!…"
"…Okay. …Don't ever tell anyone that I did this."
(Seemingly) unnoticed by the Doctor until it's too late, Davros begins to laugh.
The regeneration energy flows into Davros.
"Regeneration energy! The ancient
magic of the Time Lords."
"I thought I would have to tear you apart to take it from you…"
"…but, as always… your compassion is your downfall."
Davros watches
Missy and the Doctor.
"Oh,
you are
not ‘fine’."
Davros unsuccessfully tries to convince the Doctor, who has retrieved his confession dial, to be worried about the situation.
Davros frowns uncomprehendingly as the
Twelfth Doctor explains to him why his glorious plan is about to cause the destruction of the
Dalek City.
"No… this cannot be correct!… How can this be!?"
"Doctor! Y-you must help me!"
Missy pokes Davros in the eye.
Davros winces angrily at having been thusly poked.
The young Davros looks up curiously as the Doctor extols the importances of
mercy.
The young Davros cautiously takes the Doctor's hand.
Davros complains that the Emperor has allowed "his" Daleks to become "weak".
Davros swears to return as he makes his escape.
Back in the Court Room, the Golden Emperor watches angrily as Davros parlays with the Daleks' greatest enemy.
Close-up as Davros refuses to surrender to the
Black Dalek.
Flanked by his victorious Imperial Daleks, Davros greets the
Seventh Doctor for the first time.
"You are far more devious in your new form than past
incarnations…"
"Perhaps even more than you suspect, Davros…"
Davros threatens the Doctor's friends.
Davros mocks the Doctor for having believed his claim that he was prepared to give a sense of morality to his new Daleks.
Davros returns to the
Dalek City, escorted by the Doctor.
Davros is rent in half by Abslom Daak in a surprise attack.
"No! I have won! You cannot do this!"
Davros awakes, his memory fuzzy, as a disembodied head.
As his Imperial Dalek attendants finish welding his
casing, Davros orders them to start investigating the
Hand of Omega.
"There never has been any love lost between us, has there, Davros…?…"
"…And yet you possess a brilliant mind."
"What
happened to you, Davros? You were once a geneticist, interested only in the survival of
your people…"
"You sought to preserve life in an environment familiar only with destruction."
"
Where did the rage that created the Daleks come from?"
Davros denies ever having had peaceful intentions.
Davros expounds upon his
fascistic worldview to the Doctor.
The Doctor and Davros seen from above.
Davros dares the Doctor to acknowledge his own corruption.
The Doctor leans over Davros.
Davros mulls over the Doctor's unexpected offer of a second chance…
The Doctor insists, to Davros's confusion.
Davros refuses to quite give the Doctor his word not to betray him.
