Concorde was the name of a certain type of supersonic passenger aeroplane on Earth, as well as the name traditionally applied to all individual aircraft of that type.
A Concorde designated Golf Victor Foxtrot mysteriously disappeared in flight from Heathrow Airport in 1982, inadvertently travelling down a time corridor to the Jurassic period. The Fifth Doctor used a second Concorde, designation Golf Alpha Charlie, to investigate the first Concorde's disappearance and followed it through the time corridor. At one point the Master's TARDIS was temporarily disguised as Concorde Golf Victor Foxtrot, and materialised around it. Eventually, Concorde Golf Alpha Charlie was repaired using parts taken from Concorde Golf Victor Foxtrot and returned to 1982, leaving Concorde Golf Victor Foxtrot buried in the past. By 1982, Concorde Golf Victor Foxtrot was fossilised and buried beneath Heathrow. (TV: Time-Flight)
The Sixth Doctor later wondered about the confused civil engineers who would eventually dig up the prehistoric Concorde. (PROSE: Synthespiansâ„¢)
On Earth circa 2010, Baskerville possessed a personal stealth Concorde. (PROSE: Trading Futures)
Behind the scenes[]
- Time-Flight was the first television production allowed to film aboard an actual Concorde, as well as being the first allowed to film at Heathrow Airport. Concorde registry #G-BOAC, then British Airways' flagship, was used as the set for both of the story's Concordes.
