HALO (ハロ Haro) is an upcoming Japanese vocal to be developed and distributed by Bushiroad Inc. in collaboration with AH-Software Co. Ltd., which will be released as an AI voice database for the also-upcoming Synthesizer V Studio 2 software in March 2025 (along with an AI voice database compatible with the older Synthesizer V Studio engine). She is the fourth vocal to be released as a part of Bushiroad Inc.'s BanG Dream! AI Singing Synthesizer project, Yumenokessho (夢ノ結唱, English; "A Dream Duet").

Her voice provider will be Miku Itou.

Concept[]

HALO is a representation of Tsurumaki Kokoro, one of the protagonists of the BanG Dream! franchise. Kokoro was a first-year student at Hanasakigawa Girls' High School when she debuted, now being a third-year at the same school, and is the leader and vocalist for Hello, Happy World!.

On her official profile, Kokoro is noted to be a girl who loves to see others smile and is curious by nature. Her eyes glimmer with excitement on her never-ending search for fun things to do. Being the only daughter of well-off parents has allowed her unrealistic ideas to be brought to life.[1]

While the character is based on Tsurumaki Kokoro, the Song Voice library is meant to capture the sounds of Hello, Happy World! and was named HALO as a result, a short deformation from the band name.

Etymology[]

HALO's name comes from Tsurumaki Kokoro's band name Hello, Happy World!, and more especially a deformation from the Japanese katakana for the band name.

History[]

2023[]

On December 31, 2023, the official Twitter account of the Yumenokessho project tweeted end-of-year greetings, thanking fans for their support for the project. They announced that in 2024, a new character would join the project, and further announcements would be made "around the time when the spring cold eases and the buds begin to bloom".[2] The tweet was met with widespread excitement from fans, sparking speculations about which BanG Dream! character would receive a voice database and which synthesis engine would be used.

2024[]

In an interview published by Sound & Recording magazine on January 12, 2024, when asked about future release plans, Yumenokessho project producer Tsuho Kusumi revealed, "The next two release characters have been decided. We will be able to release information around spring, so please look forward to it!".[3]

On April 25, during a live announcement called Girls Band Party! Station, the silhouettes of HALO and PASTEL were shown, before showcasting their full renders and their reference sheets, announcing both of the characters for the Synthesizer V AI engine.[4][5] However, no release date for either of them was given yet.

2025[]

On February 13, 2025, new details regarding the Synthesizer V AI Yumenokessho series were revealed. The official announcement confirmed the upcoming release of Synthesizer V 2 AI HALO and PASTEL, along with Synthesizer V 2 AI upgrades for POPY and ROSE. Pre-orders for a limited production package version became available through the Bushiroad Online Store on the same day.[6]

The release schedule for Synthesizer V 2 AI HALO and PASTEL was also confirmed, with pre-orders for the Limited Production Package Version available from February 13 to March 7 at 18:00 JST, ahead of its scheduled release on April 25, while the Download Version will be available for purchase starting March 28. Additionally, customers who purchase Synthesizer V 2 AI PASTEL and HALO will receive a compatibility version for use within Synthesizer V Studio 1.[7]

Product Information
Versions
Lite Version/FLT Available?: No  Starter Pack Available?: No  Web Version Available?: No

Package details as noted:
HALO is expected to be a feminine Japanese voice database. As expected of an AI voice database, this would enable her to sing with a more human-like, natural, and realistic voice.

Vocal traits as noted:
With Diffusion Probabilistic Models (DPM), HALO would be able to sing more realistically through changes in volume and breath, further enriching singing details, making each singing unique, and providing creators with more options. Through this mode, she can use AI Retakes to create multiple "takes" of a sung section to find an ideal vocal without the need for "laborious tuning". This feature is only available in the Synthesizer V Studio Pro Editor.

Phonetic notes as noted:
  • Phoneme format: Romaji
  • Through Cross-lingual Singing Synthesis, HALO is expected to sing in not only Japanese but also in English, Mandarin Chinese, Cantonese Chinese, and Spanish. This feature is only available in the Synthesizer V Studio Pro Editor.

Vocal Modes as noted (Synthesizer V Studio Pro Editor only):
TBA
