Kaz Sphen was a male human pilot from Tatooine and Luke Skywalker's best friend. After he served in the Galactic Empire, he defected and became a rebel pilot and flew as Red Three in the Battle of Yavin. However he was shot down by Darth Vader while covering Luke Skywalker.
