Civ Darklancer was a Human male who served in the Imperial Navy as a starfighter pilot during the Galactic Civil War, achieving the title-rank Tan. Born and raised on Corellia, Darklancer enlisted in the Imperial Navy shortly before the Battle of Yavin. He graduated from the Imperial Naval Academy as a lieutenant. In 1 ABY, Lieutenant Darklancer was stationed in the Naboo system, and two years later he took part in the subjugation of the Airam sector. Darklancer accumulated a total of 34 combat kills during the latter event. As a result, he was elevated to the title-rank Tan (awarded to skilled pilots) by Emperor Palpatine himself in 4 ABY. Shortly before the Battle of Endor, Major Darklancer was given a posting on Ryndellia, as a member of the Ryndellian Sector Fleet.
When the local leader, Moff Petro Verkoris, formed a new Imperial faction to reunify the Empire in 6.5 ABY, Tan Darklancer joined it. The faction became led by the League of Moffs, a group of local sector Moffs (including Verkoris). He was an officer in the 408th Imperial Fighter Wing, commanded by Colonel Yarnar.

Born on Corellia, Darklancer joined the Imperial Navy during his youth, lying about his age to join when he was seventeen. Not much was known about his background, but at some point he learned how to pilot spacecraft, becoming a capable pilot. Due to this, the Corellian was able to pass TIE pilot training and was accepted into the Imperial Naval Academy on Imperial Center. Darklancer graduated as a lieutenant at some point before the Battle of Yavin and was initially stationed in the Mid Rim. Around 1 ABY, he patrolled the Naboo system in his TIE/In interceptor.
Much later, in 3 ABY, the Corellian took part in the campaign at the Airam sector, being stationed aboard the Executor-class Star Dreadnought Vengeance. Darklancer proved to be a skilled pilot by achieving 34 kills against the Rebel Alliance. Although the campaign was ultimately unsuccessful, Darklancer was one of the survivors. For the skill he showed in combat, the Corellian was elevated to the title-rank Tan, awarded by Emperor Palpatine to the Empire's best pilots. By 4 ABY, shortly before the Battle of Endor, Darklancer had been promoted to the rank of major and was given a position in the Ryndellian Sector Fleet. Darklancer did not know it, but he was given the position at the request of the local Moff, Petro Verkoris, who tried to keep his forces full of some of the most skilled officers of the Imperial military.
