The Battle of Agricole, also known as the Last Stand of Smide Hepen, and the Battle of Independence by native Agricolians, was a battle fought two months after the end of the Clone Wars. Smide Hepen, an ex-Jedi on the run from the empire, trained 2,000 men and hired bounty hunters and mercenaries to make a last ditch effort to keep himself alive. Even with the arrival of his old clone trooper unit, who were dedicated to helping him, Smide still lost the battle, and overall, his life.

The battle was seen as a victory for the Empire at first, but the lasting impressions were still made. The fight men of Agricole would never join the Empire, and the teachings of Smide Hepen would stay alive in their hearts for decades. So much so that Agricole was renamed Hepenia shortly after the fall of the Empire.

The battle has many similarities with the real life Battle of Thermopylae. In fact, the Battle of Agricole was modeled after Thermopylae, but the actual battle itself, and not Frank Miller's film 300.
