Splatters

I'm channelling Eliza with this one - only using my supplies. Love the light yet arty touch.

Using my current favourite sentiment from Hero Arts!

CASology #264 : Square

I'm still having fun with making cards for expectant mothers and arrival of babies. Don't you just love this tiny babygro from WPlus9?

This could possibly be the smallest square for the CASology #264 : Square Challenge!

There are some wonderful designs by the rest of the design team

Birthday Tribute Board

I have finally finished (and delivered) my tribute board for my SIL's 50th Birthday. My brother had asked that we give something that shares something about her ... words, poem, song, etc. Well, nobody likes my singing, and I'm not that good with words, but I can play with paper, ink and stamps.

Even though we live so far away from each other (Canada to Mauritius), she has a special place in my heart. I may not know her as well as those who see her regularly, but these things inspired the tribute board :
  • She mostly wears black and white, so I knew I wanted those as the main colours
  • She had daisies in her wedding bouquet and loves nature so used flowers and leaves dies
  • She is creative and has painted in the past, so I used watercolour
  • She is fun and enjoys games and taught me the dice game
  • She is a psychiatrist, good communicator and says, "Do you want to talk about it?", so I have used printed book pages on the background under the paint; word pattern paper and frame and the speech bubbles
  • Family and love are very important to her ... and she is part of mine, so the framed heart
  • I used the green acrylic jewels because she is a gem, and her engagement ring is an emerald
  • The autumn maple leaf to symbolise Canada
  • The guinea fowl feather because she loves guinea fowl and we went to a game reserve nearly every time the family came across to South Africa
  • She loves to travel, so have the world map
  • She and her family is musical with wonderful singers and players so stamped some notes
  • A smooth stone  - again for nature, and she was the one who first shared special stones with me

[ I was inspired by Shari Carroll's Tribute Canvas. ]

CASology #263 : Bud

The CASology Challenge word cue this week is BUD, and is sponsored by Kitty Bee Designs. It's worth a pop over to see her cute designs. The little cows are adorable.

One of the digital stamps we got to use was this Flower for you Bunny. So sweet I had to make 2 cards. Even with digital stamps, you don't have to keep the image upright. You don't have to use the whole image either. Thought she would look cute peeking in to say Hi!

I have 2 friends who's daughter's are having their first child. One had her son a week ago and the other will have to wait until November for her bundle of joy.

It's always worth a visit to the rest of the Design Team to get inspired ...

Birthday Wishes

I'm having a blast from the past kind of day. New supplies are coming so fast and furious that it's hard to find time to play with past favourites. So mixing it up with a new stencil and old punch today.

Golden Blooms

I haven't played much with my new stamps ... the Altenew "Amazing You" set being one of them.

A little bird ...

Time to do some paper piecing and to play with some oldie but favourites.

My entry for ...

CASology #261 : Safari

The cue word at CASology is SAFARI this week. This is where I so need the Hero Arts June Monthly kit! But it was sold out in record time. So it was the Silhouette to the rescue.

I wanted to do an African silhouette and sunset, so I printed out the image at the width of the card. Started distressing with a touch of Scattered Straw for the edge of the moon, with Ripe Persimmon, Broken China and Faded Jeans for the sky.

My original idea was to have the silhouette and shaded band only about 1½" high so that I could preserve lots of white space and it would qualify as a CAS card. But this takes up more than ⅓ of the card. Should have printed it smaller and made the grasslands wider, either on the silhouette or by hand.

Too lazy to reprint and colour, so then I checked out other images in my library. I thought this cool looking giraffe would fit the bill perfectly! Keeping it to a bare minimum, added a touch of watercolour & brightened it up with this fun frame from Studio Calico, and word tags from Lili of the Valley.

After a simply wonderful CASology 5th Anniversary celebration last week, we're moving on to something JUICY this week!

And what could be more juicy than a lovely red apple! Doesn't it just make your mouth water?
