"Rainbow Road Medley" is a music track that features a mashup of Rainbow Road tracks from the Mario Kart series into one arrangement. The remix is heavily synthesized, most likely to simulate a space-like vibe. This track was composed for Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS for the 3DS-exclusive stage, Rainbow Road, but also appears in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U which plays on Mario Circuit. This track returns in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate along with the Mario Circuit stage, however, the Rainbow Road stage did not.
History[]
In an interview with Masahiro Sakurai at E3 2013,[1] Sakurai explains that in the 3DS version of Smash Bros. "[the stages] are based on games released on portable consoles." This statement could possible be the reason for why the Rainbow Road iterations for Mario Kart 7, Mario Kart DS, and Mario Kart: Super Circuit were chosen for this remix since these three Mario Kart games all come from portable consoles: the Nintendo 3DS, the Nintendo DS, and the Game Boy Advance, respectively.
Tracks used[]
The track starts off with an abridged remix of the Rainbow Road theme from Mario Kart 7, omitting the second loop before the Mario Kart 64 section.
The track then transitions into the second half of the Rainbow Road theme from Mario Kart DS.
The track finally ends with a segment of the Rainbow Road theme from Mario Kart: Super Circuit before looping back to Mario Kart 7.

Trivia[]
- The Rainbow Road track for Mario Kart 7 features a slow, synthesized excerpt of Mario Kart 64’s Rainbow Road theme meaning this remix technically contains four Rainbow Road tracks.
- Among many Mario Kart fans, the Super Circuit version of Rainbow Road was considered to be looked down upon due to its unique composition of not mimicking the space-like themes of other Rainbow Road themes. The Super Circuit segment of this remix seems to parallel its original source's uniqueness by consisting of a brass composition, straying away from the original space-like feeling the first two Rainbow Road iterations replicated from their own respective sources.
