The Upperdash Arm (豪腕ダッシュアッパー Gouwan Dasshu Appā) is Pit's Side Special Move in Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, replacing Angel Ring in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Pit dashes forward before performing an uppercut with the namesake weapon.
Overview[]
The Uppercut deals 10% damage grounded (9% when airborne) and sends opponents flying with vertical knockback, much like Captain Falcon's Raptor Boost with the difference that when it's hit in the air, he will send opponents upward. If he intercepts a projectile while dashing, the projectile will be reflected. Upperdash Arm possesses Super Armor during the uppercut, making it useful for plowing through regular attacks. The attack can KO at 150% grounded, and 170% when airborne.
Upperdash Arm provides Pit with a solid defensive option due to its Super Armor and reflecting capabilities, as well as a powerful offensive option due to its damage and knockback. However, if he misses Pit suffers from high ending lag, leaving him vulnerable to punishment. While it can be used for recovery safely due to him retaining mobility, if he goes over the ledge he may not have the ability to recover due to the high ending lag continuing while he is falling.
Electroshock Arm[]
Electroshock Arm is Dark Pit's Side Special Move. Dark Pit rushes forward with the namesake weapon to perform an uppercut.
Electroshock Arm possesses the same basic capabilities as Upperdash Arm. However, Dark Pit may occasionally shout "Electroshock!" when initiating the move.
However, Electroshock Arm deals 12% with electrical damage and launches opponents at a 43 degree angle, making it ideal for dealing KO's by knocking opponents over the side blast lines, particularly at edges of the stage.

Custom Variations[]
In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U, with the introduction of the Custom Moves, Pit and Dark Pit has two variations of Upperdash Arm and Electroshock Arm respectively.
Interception Arm/Electrocut Arm[]
Interception Arm and Electrocut Arm is one of Pit/Dark Pit's Side Special Moves that can be used via customization. Pit/Dark Pit will enter a defensive stance, and will retaliate against any opponent who tries to attack them while in the stance. The countering attack will also occur if Pit/Dark Pit is near an opponent, making the counter being more focused on detecting opponents than blocking attacks.
Strengths:
- Acts like a counter
- Can discourage frontal approaches
- Edge-guarding method and discouragement
Weaknesses:
- Less horizontal recovery
The Interception Arm is a great move for taking control of enemy behavior. It acts like a counter, but will actually activate if it detects an enemy presence. In this way, it can discourage enemy frontal approaches because if they even dash towards Pit/Dark Pit and manage to get detected they will be counter-attacked. The same works with edge-guarding; if Pit/Dark Pit is edge-guarding, he can use the move to detect enemies trying to get to the edge and attack them. If Pit/Dark Pit is trying to recover and an enemy is on the edge, he can use the move to deter any edge-guarding attempts made by the enemy. Pit does sacrifice a horizontal recovery option in trade for this though, so try to keep this in mind.
Quickdash Arm/Quickshock Arm[]
Quickdash Arm and Quickshock Arm is one of Pit/Dark Pit's Side Special Moves that can be used via customization. It is the same as the default, however, it travels a longer distance, even if Pit/Dark Pit has already done the uppercut.
Strengths:
- Faster execution
- More distance
Weaknesses:
- Unwieldy and hard to control
This move grants Pit/Dark Pit more horizontal recovery distance and it actually moves faster as well. However, when it hits an opponent it can be unwieldy and awkward for a player to try an control. An experienced Pit/Dark Pitplayer should be able to get it under control.

Trophy Description[]
Arms are a family of weapons that attach to the user's arm and fire projectiles. This one is outfitted with a disc-shaped device that fires ring shots. As the name implies, its real specialty lies in its powerful melee dash attack. Remember to take it off before a meal, though.
Origin[]
Upperdash Arm originated from Kid Icarus: Uprising, falling under the Arm-class of weapons, which possesses high melee capabilities as well as the ability to fire projectiles (which is not seen in Smash Bros.), but at the cost of low range and slow attack speed. The Upperdash Arm in particular possesses a very powerful dash attack, which is seen when Pit uses the attack.
Electroshock Arm also debuted in Uprising as an Arm-class weapon, specializing in firing bursts of electricity (which is not seen in Smash Bros.). The move also knocked opponents back and inflicts paralysis, which is seen in the properties of Electroshock Arm. Dark Pit never uses this weapon in the game, though it can be used by him when he is playable.
