Death's Scythe is an item appearing in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Overview[]

The Death Scythe is a melee weapon that can execute f-tilts, f-smashes and dash attacks to deal damage to opponents. The f-tilts have very short range and the f-smashes have considerably long range. However, just hitting the enemies is not its main use: if the enemy is hit by a smash attack in a sweetspot far towards the edge of the attack's hitbox but not quite there (if the opponent in inside that sweetspot, there will be an eerie and extremely easily noticeable red and black aura around them) or by an f-tilt at any spot when the target is above 80% damage, they will be instantly KO'd. Unlike the Home-Run Bat, where the KO is from high knockback, the Death's Scythe simply causes the victim to be destroyed without requiring the victim to be sent off stage to KO. This destruction uses the same animation as when an enemy dies in Stamina Mode off of not having any HP left.

Origin[]

Death's Scythe was wielded by Dracula's most loyal servant, Death. Death used it to steal people's souls, and he also attacks the vampire hunters with it as his weapon. The scythe also features as a weapon used by two Castlevania protagonists linked to Dracula. In Aria of Sorrow (Hard Mode only,) Dawn of Sorrow and Harmony of Despair the scythe serves as the strongest Dark-element weapon in those games and is used by Soma Cruz, a reincarnation of Dracula. In Curse of Darkness, the scythe can be forged and consequently used by Hector, a Devil Forgemaster who once served Dracula.
