“ | There's only one monster I know of that might leave something like this behind. I always thought it was just a story. His name is Bori Baba, or Father Sack. It's equivilant to the boogeyman where I'm from. (...) See, Bori Baba lures its victims by tempting them with an item they've lost. And not just any item. Something that has deep meaning to them. When a person wishes for this item to be found, the sack appears. Then Bori Baba emerges from it, takes them, and traps them in its maze. It tends to stay in one area for awhile. Bori Baba, meaning Father Sack, is a North Indian boogeyman.
History[]
Bori Baba has been a North Indian boogeyman for over a thousand years, hunting its victims and eating them alive. Stories of Bori Baba are largely oral tradition passed down from generation to generation, leaving very little written lore about it, including nothing about how to track the monster or to kill it. As a child, Latika Dar hears stories about Bori Baba from her father that leaves her with nightmares even as an adult.
In 1972, apparently due to the presence of the Akrida, Bori Baba begins terrorizing Lawrence, Kansas, kidnapping Carrie Billup. After Mary Campbell and John Winchester retrieve a piece of the monster that it left behind while taking Carrie, Lata is able to identify Bori Baba, but she doesn't remember any stories about how to defeat or escape it. Lata agrees to try to contact some of the people back home in India in the hopes that someone there will know how to stop Bori Baba before it harms Carrie. However, despite Mary placing hex bags around her home, Bori Baba is able to lure Carrie's brother Ford outside and drag him into its bag.
After discovering Ford's abduction, Mary decides to go into Bori Baba's sack to protect the kids while John and Lata work on a way to rescue them and stop the monster. Against John's protests, Mary focuses on her missing father and Bori Baba's sack appears with Samuel's hat in it. After Mary takes the hat, Bori Baba drags her inside. As Bori Baba chases the siblings through the sack, Mary cuts its arms off from behind and decapitates it. However, Bori Baba quickly reforms moments later and chases after the three.
At the same time, with no one back home having been helpful, Lata reluctantly calls an estranged relative who is able to give her useful information on the monster. Lata reveals to John that Bori Baba has to lure its victims as it's vulnerable outside of the sack which is the reason that the monster leaves pieces of itself behind: Bori Baba can't survive in the outside world. However, if they lure Bori Baba out and kill it, the sack gets destroyed along with everything inside of it. As a result, Mary and the children must be rescued first. According to the story, Bori Baba's victims are trapped by the item that they've lost, and they must willingly let go of it in order to escape.
As Mary, Carrie and Ford hide, John manages to make contact with them through one of the CB radios that have ended up in Bori Baba's sack over time which resides in an area similar to a storage unit that's holding a number of electronic items. Upon hearing the message, Carrie and Ford quickly destroy their lost objects and are set free of Bori Baba's sack. As Mary tries and fails to burn Samuel's hat, Bori Baba is able to open the door enough to grab her foot and try to yank Mary through the door. Mary manages to free herself and John helps her to realize that the hat represents Mary's fears of what comes after she quits hunting. As Bori Baba opens the door enough to crawl under it, John gets Mary to let go of her fears, and she is able to burn the hat and free herself of Bori Baba's sack.
As everyone celebrates, Bori Baba suddenly emerges from its sack, shoves John across the room and turns on Lata. Faced with her childhood nightmare, Lata shoves Bori Baba across the room and John decapitates it with a knife. Vulnerable in the outside world, Bori Baba dies and Carrie stomps its head in, calling it a stupid monster.
Later that night, John burns Bori Baba's remains, but an Akrida snatches its bag and takes it to the Akrida Leader. The Akrida Leader is able to extract some of Bori Baba's essence from the bag and into a vial like she did with La Tunda.
