Bobby John is the shapeshifter baby of a murdered couple that Sam found and Dean Winchester hastily named.

When the Alpha Shapeshifter came for Bobby John, it successfully took him from the Campbells and Winchesters and presumably took him to a nursery for the newborn shifters.

Background[]

His human mother is seduced by an unknown shifter who takes the form of her husband, that night they make a baby. Nine months later, Bobby John was born in 2010. He is only a few months old, when later, his parents hide him under the bed so whatever is attacking them doesn't get him. When Sam finds him while investigating the scene, he quickly calls in Dean for help. So they take the baby to the supermarket to pick up supplies. Then the baby begins to cry and they rush to the cashier. Once there she asks what's the baby's name. Sam says, "John", and Dean says "Bobby", and they decide to combine it.

Bobby John is still crying and Dean tries to calm him down. An old lady helps out, but Dean finds out she is a shapeshifter. She makes a run with Bobby John, but they get him back. Later, in their motel room, they discover that Bobby John isn't just any baby, but a shapeshifter. After a shapeshifter attack, they decide to bring Bobby John to Samuel Campbell's for safe keeping.

At Samuel's, he decides to raise the baby in the hunter lifestyle, which makes Dean angry. Samuel also gives Bobby John to a Campbell couple, but then the Alpha Shapeshifter comes. So Sam and Dean take him to Samuel's panic room. When Sam goes to check on things, the Alpha comes looking like Sam, and then shifts into Dean. Bobby John is taken away by the Alpha, and is never seen again.

It's unclear if Bobby John was a part of the Shapeshifter Nursery at the monster prison that Crowley captured, seeing as the Alpha Shapshifter took Bobby John with him and Crowley apprehended the Alpha.

Powers and Abilities[]

• Regeneration - If hurt, the baby will be able to heal quickly, and replace any major organs or body parts.

  

• Shapeshifting - This was seen when Bobby John changes to the baby on the diaper box.
• Mental Call - It has a mental connection to the Alpha Shapeshifter. With this, the Alpha can find the baby anywhere.
  • Telepathy - This was not displayed as when Bobby John shifted, it wasn't through contact but by sight. But nonetheless, he'll share a telepathic link with any victims he takes, and learn their memories or skills. As well thought, as long his (possible) victims are alive.
• Voice Mimicry - Bobby John will be able to mimic the voices of anyone he chooses, without needing to shift into them.
• Super Strength - Even though they appear human, shapeshifters do possess amazing physical strength. They can easily overpower and kill human beings. One was able to rip a woman apart with his bare hands while in the form of a young child.
• Invulnerability - Shapeshifters are unaffected from most physical injuries, unless caused by silver. One recovered almost immediately after Dean punched him in the face and later after he kicked it.
• Super Speed - Shapeshifters seem to be able to run faster than humans; on several occasions, shapeshifters have managed to easily escape from pursuers. One was able to run faster than a gun could be aimed.
• Super Agility - They possess quicker reflexes than typical humans. One of them was able to dodge a bullet, jump out of a house without hurting itself, and left a bloody footprint on a telephone pole, indicating that Shapeshifters can climb.

Weaknesses[]

• Silver - They can be killed by a silver bullet or silver blade to the heart. Injuries caused by silver are incredibly painful to them while contact with a silver object will burn a shapeshifter and can be used as a method of identification of one.
• Retinal Flare - They are identified by a retinal flare that shows when they are filmed or when light rays cross their eyes.
• Iridium - Capable of harming shapeshifters as discovered by Crowley during experiments to find a way to harm the Alpha Shapeshifter.
• Vamptonite - Edgar states that the Leviathan additive is engineered to kill shapeshifters in addition to vampires and ghouls.
• Pepper Spray - Jamie once used it against one to temporally blind him. However, he recovered from it faster than humans would.
• Dogs - Like certain supernatural phenomena, certain animals such as dogs can sense Shapeshifters regardless of the form they take. The sight of one turned one dog from harmless to vicious, while the Alpha Shapeshifter's presence caused multiple dogs to howl. This does not seem to apply on all shapeshifters though, as some were seen near dogs and those remained perfectly calm.
• Decapitation - Since decapitation can kill the Alpha, it is most likely that decapitating a shifter would kill it.
• Heart Extraction - Shapeshifters can be killed by having their hearts ripped out as demonstrated by Irv Sokolowski in Bloodlines when he killed Sal Lassiter by ripping his heart out, albeit with a homemade silver claw.
• Explosions - Garth Fitzgerald IV once blew up an entire monster fight club with C4, killing Cutty and almost all of them (about 58-60 monsters of many species), with only one survivor.

Trivia[]

• He is named after Bobby Singer and John Winchester, Sam and Dean's (surrogate and real) fathers.
• It was revealed that shapeshifters can change form subconsciously. As Bobby John never intended to shift, instead when he saw pictures of other babies he shifted form to mirror them.
• He is the first shapeshifter child to be seen on screen.
• It was his mother's death, that brought Dean back into hunting.
• He also (unknowingly) led to the discovery of the Alpha Shifter, which would later spur Samuel and Crowley hunting Alpha's.
• It wasn't until his birth that it was revealed how shapeshifters came into being.
