Turbo is an alien who was forced to take part in the brutal Space Race on behalf of the Vargz or his family would pay the price. Turbo then raced Sonic the Hedgehog in a space race. Due to not being used to racing in zero gravity, Sonic lost, but was able to save Turbo.
In Sonic the Comic Online, Turbo appeared in The Universe Game. Turbo was summoned as The Void's warrior to fight Sonic. Turbo reveals he isn't being controlled by The Void and starts to attack Sonic. Sonic attempts to get Turbo's help to fight back against The Void but Turbo knocks Sonic out cold. Turbo demands a rematch but is imprisoned along with Sonic for his impudence.
When the pair wake up, Turbo reveals he is only here because he misses the thrills of the Space Race. Breaking out of their prison, Sonic and Turbo cut in to the battle between Lumina's and Void's cronies. As Lumina prepares to sacrifice an entire galaxy to hold off The Void, Sonic and Turbo run up to The Void and punch her at speed, ending the "game". Exasperated that she never thought of that strategy, Lumina sends Sonic and Turbo home. The hedgehogs vow to meet again, eager to have that rematch.
Personality[]
Turbo is incredibly like his common counterpart, Sonic the Hedgehog, in many aspects. Both are determined, fast and have a reason for doing what they do. The difference is that Turbo fought for the lives of his family and for freedom, while Sonic fought for the freedom of Mobius. Both have a fondness for adventure, evidenced by Turbo not willing to settle down into family life. He appears to have little sympathy for his defeated challengers, not particuarly saddened by the imminent destruction of Sonic's crew and dispatched of Sonic in their battle with no emotion.
These similarities gave reason for readers to label Turbo as a 'recolour' and a 'fan-character', having little personality to separate him from Sonic. Despite this, he is somewhat of a fan favourite, with corners of the community championing his return before he eventually made his long-awaited return in STC-O. Turbo had a cameo appearance in Road Race!, being one of the competitors entered into the Kane Broadcasting Company-sponsored race against the Babylon Rogues. He was knocked off his board before he or Sonic noticed each other.

Trivia[]
- Turbo's first two appearances have the word "race" in the title, relating to Turbo's thrill-seeking nature and a homage to his first appearance. Similarly, all three titles are related to competition.
- Set was the first character that debuted in the Time Zone story arc to appear in Sonic the Comic Online. Turbo was the second, although Turbo's debut was 8 issues later.
- Turbo appeared in a pin-up alongside Blockhead Bill and Society Max, all trapped in a void between the Omni-Viewer and the Eternity Ring. His depiction along with the former Special Zone residents could mean he has some relationship to them or the Zone. However, this is has never been touched upon.
