Kyber?[]

So the article says these crystals were highly used before they switched to kyber. but as far as I'm aware, kyber is almost exclusive to the new canon, so shouldn't the article say before they switched to adegan? I suppose they could be talking about kaiburr, but they say that the kyber is from illum which makes it seem unlikely to me
