The Rod of Daybreak was a Force artifact, one of a set of three rods. During the High Republic Era,[1] around 382 BBY,[5] it was on display in a museum on the moon Jedha. After the theft of the Rod of Seasons, another artifact in the set, from Hynestia, the Rod of Daybreak was moved from the museum to a vault controlled by the Jedi Order for safekeeping. The Mother, the cult leader responsible for the theft, made plans with the smuggler Radicaz Dobbs, who had discovered the Rod of Daybreak's new location, to seize the artifact after her cult, the Path of the Open Hand, abandoned their original headquarters on the planet Dalna.[1]
Together, the Rod of Daybreak could be combined with the Rod of Seasons to form the Rod of Power, which provided one with complete control over the Nameless. After the Rod of Daybreak was recovered and the Path returned to Dalna, only for the cult to be defeated in the Night of Sorrow, Path member Yana Ro departed from the Path with the Rod of Daybreak, keeping it a secret from her radicalized cousin Marda Ro, who took ownership of the Rod of Seasons.[3] Years later, Marda's descendant Marchion Ro[4] sought out the rod pieces.[6] In time, he discovered the Rod of Daybreak and reforged the Rod of Power.[4]
