Obviribdum was a black-colored material.[1] At some point by the time Kylo Ren, Supreme Leader of the First Order, had his shattered helmet reforged[2] in 35 ABY,[3] he had First Order technicians custom-design for him a reliquary case with an outer shell of reflective obviribdum in the shape of a truncated cube. The case was kept in Ren's private quarters aboard his flagship Star Destroyer Steadfast and contained the remains of the charred helmet of Ren's grandfather, Sith Lord Darth Vader. It was magnetically sealed, climate-controlled, and shielded from both radiation and sensor scans. Ren also had the outer shell of the case made blast-proof at great expense.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Obviribdum was identified in Pablo Hidalgo's 2019 reference book Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary as the material of the outer shell of the case containing Darth Vader's helmet[1] from[2] that year's sequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker,[4] which the release of the book accompanied.[1]
