The HWK-290 was a light freighter manufactured by the Corellian Engineering Corporation in an effort to break into a new market for fast, small cargo ships. The production lasted from the decades leading up to the Battle of Naboo until being discontinued during the Clone Wars.
Characteristics[]
Measuring twenty-nine meters in length, the HWK-290 resembled the head of a large raptor, and required a pilot and co-pilot to operate. The freighter could accommodate up to six passengers and 150 tons of cargo. The ships were produced without armament; they used speed and maneuverability to escape most situations.
History[]
It was mainly used for delivering small but critical shipment between asteroid mines and orbital stations.[6]
The most famous of the series was the Moldy Crow, a heavily modified HWK-290 freighter used by Jan Ors and Kyle Katarn, the specific unit of which was manufactured in 9 BBY.[1]
