Exonium was a type of ore that could produce clean energy, found in vast deposits on the Outer Rim Territories planet Rishi. Considered a precious resource, exonium was used by the planet's indigenous Rishii species to cook food during Rishi's winter season. Due to the ore's properties, settlers were drawn to Rishi to mine and sell the ore, as exonium could be used to power various artifacts, including the insectoid Geonosian species' sonic weaponry. During the galaxy-spanning Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, Separatist Geonosians attempted to conquer Rishi for its exonium deposits.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
Exonium was first mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in De Agostini's 2022 Star Wars Encyclopedia booklet "Mustafar and Other Planets in the Outer Rim."[1] Exonium originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it first appeared in The Clone Wars: The Gauntlet of Death, a 2009 comic written by Henry Gilroy.[2]
