The Eternal Alliance fleet, also known as the Alliance fleet, was the navy of the Eternal Alliance, an organization originally created to stop the Eternal Empire. Led by the Alliance Commander, the fleet was formed from former Imperial and Republic starships, alongside the Alliance flagship the Gravestone.
Following the defeat of the Eternal Empire and the Alliance reorganization into the the Eternal Alliance, the navy absorbed the Eternal Fleet, which made the Eternal Alliance being considered one of the most powerful factions in the galaxy. Following the destruction of the Eternal Fleet and the Gravestone by the superweapon Zildrog, the navy strength was reduced, but still boasted several Imperial and Republic ships.
Once the Commander decided to join the Galactic Republic, the Eternal Alliance fleet started to coordinate with Task Force Nova.
Organization[]
The Eternal Alliance fleet[5] was overseen by Admiral Bey'wan Aygo and the Military Operations division, but was under direct control of the Alliance Commander at all times. The fleet headquarters were located on the planet Odessen.[2]
History[]
Fighting the Eternal Empire[]
In 3631 BBY,[3] when the Alliance was formed on the planet Odessen, the fleet mainly consisted of the Gravestone, the Alliance flagship that had been found in the Endless Swamp on the planet Zakuul, and a contingent of former Imperial Mark VI Supremacy-class and Republic Liberator-class starfighters.[2]
Following the first Battle of Odessen,[12] in 3630 BBY,[13] the fleet increased its size by adding multiple Thranta-class corvettes, Terminus-class destroyers, Sith Empire warships, and Republic transports.[12] During the war against Zakuul, the Alliance utilized several Eternal Empire shuttles to disguise themselves from the Eternal Empire.[1]
The fleet saw action throughout the year in several battles such as the defense of Voss, where several ships confronted the Eternal Fleet and draw away the Eternal Fleet attention from Voss' surface. The defense of Voss would ultimately be successful after the Sith Empire Navy decided to join forces with the Alliance.[1] The fleet once again faced the Eternal Fleet when it attacked the Gravestone, where the battle ended up being inconclusive after SCORPIO, the droid advisor of Empress Vaylin, took the Gravestone to travel to the planet Iokath.[6]
When Vaylin attacked Odessen, the fleet composed of Thranta-class and Terminus-class starships defended the Alliance base from the Eternal Fleet. Following Vaylin's death, the Eternal Fleet jumped away from Odessen marking a victory for the Alliance.[9] When the Alliance learned that the Eternal Fleet was activating their original programming and attacking several world including Coruscant, Dromund Kaas and Zakuul, the Alliance Commander took the fleet to Zakuul so they could take the Eternal Throne and stop the Eternal Fleet from continuing their rampage. The fleet began their attack while the Commander alongside Senya Tirall and Arcann made their way to the throne. Eventually, after deafeating Valkorion the Commander took control of the throne and pacified the Eternal Fleet, ending the war against Zakuul.[8]
The Eternal Alliance[]
After the Battle of Zakuul, the Alliance reorganized itself to the Eternal Alliance, with this reorganization the Alliance Commander also integrated the Eternal Fleet, an armada composed of hundreds of warships, to the Eternal Alliance fleet. With the Eternal Fleet in the navy, the Eternal Alliance became one of the most powerful factions in the galaxy.[8] The fleet also had at least one capital ship under the command of Hym Jemuro.[7]
In 3629 BBY,[14] the Alliance Commander learned that both the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic were on Iokath looking for a superweapon, the Alliance dispatched the Eternal Fleet to Iokath in an attempt to stop them from getting the weapon. Unknown to the Commander a signal from Iokath's surface blocked communications between the Throne and the Eternal Fleet, leaving the Eternal Fleet dormant above Iokath. On the surface, the Commander allied with the Galactic Republic and tried to stop Empress Darth Acina from activating the superweapon, but a power surge killed Acina and deactivated the signal blocking the Eternal Fleet, bringing it back online. The fleet would eventually fire against Tyth, one of the Six Gods that had been awakened as a result of the power surge.[10]
In 3628 BBY,[15] following the Mission to Nathema, the Eternal Alliance fleet strength was diminished after the ancient superweapon Zildrog destroyed the Eternal Fleet and the Gravestone,[16] as a consequence to the Eternal Alliance military almost being destroyed, the Galactic Republic and Sith Empire redoubled their efforts to prepare for war. Although the Alliance lost most of its ships it didn't stop their operations, and a small fleet continued their duty by patrolling the Wild Space.[5]
New Galactic Conflict[]
In 3628 BBY,[17] when the war between the Sith Empire and the Galactic Republic resumed after the Invasion of Ossus, the Eternal Alliance allied themselves with the Republic. In preparation for type of attack on Odessen, Admiral Aygo positioned the Eternal Alliance fleet in defensive positions around the planet.[18]
In 3627 BBY,[19] the Republic learned that Corellia and the Meridian Complex was going to be attacked by the Sith Empire, the Republic began scrambling any available Republic fleets to defend the planet. With the help of the Eternal Alliance the Eleventh Fleet and the Twenty-Ninth Fleet managed to refuel at Onderon and Mek-Sha, before joining Corellia's defenses.[20] Before the Meridian Complex assault began, both the Republic and the Eternal Alliance had a briefing to prepare for the battle, Fleet Admiral Numinn of the Republic Navy suggested that the Eternal Alliance fleet should hide near the planet Talus, and then hyperjump to the battle once they knew their objective. When the Commander arrived to the battle the Sith Empire fleet had already began their attack, two groups under Malgus' command composed of Silencer dreadnoughts and isotope-5 vessels were attacking the Republic fleet head on and another group commanded by Darth Krovos was positioned on the far side of Corellia. The original plan for the Eternal Alliance fleet was to attack the Silencers. When Krovos' group started an orbital bombardment of the planet surface targeting residential and industrial areas, the Commander sent Admiral Aygo and the Eternal Alliance fleet after them in an attempt to stop the bombardment.[11]
Following a battle both in space and on the ground the attack on the Meridian Complex was foiled by the Republic and the Alliance. At Carrick Station, the Supreme Chancellor Galena Rans offered the Commander the opportunity to join the Republic, with Odessen as their member world with a Senate representative, and the opportunity to lead Task Force Nova, a join military-civilian initiative tasked with the rebuilding of the Jedi Order. The Commander accepted the offer after some consideration, and the Alliance joined the Galactic Republic.[11] Admiral Aygo considered the joint operations to be the most activity Military Operations had seen.[21]
Equipment[]
Starships[]
The Eternal Alliance fleet was mainly composed of former Imperial and Republic starships. The main ship of the Eternal Alliance was the Gravestone, which served as the flagship of the Alliance,[12] until its destruction.[16] Following the Battle of Odessen, the fleet counted with several Thranta-class corvettes, Terminus-class destroyers, Sith Empire warships and Republic transports.[12]
The Eternal Alliance also had a starfighter component mainly comprised of Mark VI Supremacy-class starfighters and Liberator-class starfighters.[2]
Throught the War against Zakuul, the Eternal Alliance also utilized several shuttles and transports to move personnel,[12] resources or for infiltration. The Eternal Empire shuttle,[1] the Plug-6 heavy fighter and the Fortitude-class assault shuttle were often used by the Alliance.[12]
After the war with Zakuul the Eternal Alliance fleet counted with hundreds of Eternal Fleet warships, which were controlled by the Eternal Throne and GEMINI droids,[8] until their destruction by Zildrog.[16]
Behind the scenes[]
The Eternal Alliance fleet first appeared in the 2015 digital expansion Knights of the Fallen Empire for BioWare's MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic.[22]
Gameplay alternatives[]
If the player's original faction is the Republic, during the Flashpoint Objective Meridian the Commander can decide whether to stop Darth Krovos' orbital bombardment of Corellia for Light Side points or to stick to the plan and engage in battle with the Sith Empire Silencers for Dark Side points. The article assumes the Commander chose the Light Side option. If the player's original faction is the Sith Empire, the fleet will be requested to escort the Silencers.[11]
