- "…ongoing Imperial operations targeting another dozen worlds. Burnin Konn, Cadovant, [sic] Abednedo, and Commenor among them. Some of these appear to be solely punitive on the part of the Empire, though the purpose of many others is far less clear."
- ―Admiral Gial Ackbar
Commenor was an ancient, conservative planet located in the Colonies region of the galaxy.
History[]
Rebel General Jan Dodonna hailed from Commenor,[7] as did the Imperial officer Fatimah Nurii.[8] During the reign of the Galactic Empire, the planet supported the Galactic Emperor Sheev Palpatine[4] and was home to an underground resistance movement.[9]
In the aftermath of the Battle of Endor[6] in 4 ABY,[10] the Empire targeted Commenor as part of Operation: Cinder, attempting to destroy the world after the death of the Emperor.[6] Civilizations on the world saw devastation at the hands of the Empire's fleets as a result.[11] After the signing of the Galactic Concordance, which conditionally allowed the remnants of the Empire to peacefully co-exist with the New Republic, Commenor came under control of the Inner systems' Imperial remnant.[4] Thirty years after the Battle of Endor, Commenor was a member world in the New Republic, where it was represented in the Galactic Senate by Thanlis Depallo.[5]
Behind the scenes[]
Commenor was first mentioned in Star Wars: From the Adventures of Luke Skywalker, the Legends novelization of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. It was first mentioned in canon in the reference book Ultimate Star Wars, published in 2015.
