- "You see these? Maybe they look familiar. Maybe they're your uncles, your aunties. You're not the first Wookiee I've fought. Now you know what happens when I do."
- ―Boba Fett, to Chewbacca on braids on his armor
A braid was a kind of hairstyle involving multiple strands of hair twined around each other. They were worn by many cultures and species across the galaxy.[2] Padawan braids were worn by Jedi Padawans to signify their status as apprentices, and were ritually cut off when their apprenticeships ended.[3] Braids were also significant to the culture of the planet Alderaan. Many Alderaanians wore braids, and the planet's monarch traditionally always wore them.[2] The bounty hunter Boba Fett had braids made from Wookiees on his armor. Whilst fighting the Wookiee Chewbacca on the planet Jekara, he threatened to make a new braid from Chewbacca.[1]
