Sassy Cheryl's Digi Challenge #172 - Bling in the Sun

Hello!  I hope you all are having a great weekend.  I'm posting a quick card for this week's Sassy Cheryl Digi Challenge.  Miz Dawn has challenged us to "Bling" in the sun with our Sassy Cheryl images.

A couple of week's ago Miss Pat posted an adorable tent card with link to the instructions.  It looked so cute that I had to give it a try.  I've used Sassy Cheryl's "Just Hanging Around" image for my tent card.  The image was colored with Copic Markers and Prismacolor pencils.  For my bling I added Stampin' Up embossed glitter  to the yellow scallop border and yellow gems were added to the foam die sun.  Below is a close up:
Also sharing with the ladies over on the Sassy Cheryl Show Me challenge this week.   It's always fun to see what everyone has going on in their part of the world.  It's easy to play along and you might win a free Sassy Cheryl digital image.

Thanks for stopping by for a closer look!  Hope you have a great week.

Sweet Stop Sketch #217

Happy Saturday to my sketch lovin' friends!  I hope you get a chance to enjoy some weekend fun AND crafting.  This week's Sweet Stop sketch is a lot of fun.

Here's what I came up with using a Sweet 'n Sassy digital image called "Party Hat Cocoa Colored":
A pre-colored image is handy to have around for a quick card.  I needed a birthday card for one of the children in my church and this worked out perfectly!  I combined the image with papers from Basic Grey Life of the Party paper pad.  The stars were created using Sweet 'n Sassy's Stars Die Set which I love.  Finally, a star brad was added as the finishing touch.

Just a few things to keep in mind as you play.... -You do NOT have to use Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps images to play along, but we sure love when you do :).
~You may flip or rotate the sketch, change or replace the shapes, but please make sure the general layout is recognizable.

Unity Friends With Flair

Happy Friday!  Every Friday Unity Stamp Company Hosts the Friends With Flair linky party.  This week I have used an Itty Bitty called "Good times all around" for my project.  This image came to mind because a small carnival has come into Anchorage this week.  Every day I see the Ferris wheel and think of this fun set!

I have combined it with a the Mix-Ability and Free For All Challenges on Splitcoast Stampers.  The base is acrylic paint which has been swooshed around with a plastic Pampered Chef tool.  We were suppose to use a credit card, but I didn't have an extra.  :-)  Then I splattered various distress inks with a paintbrush to give a confetti effect.

Thanks for stopping by for a closer look!  Hope you have a fabulous Friday.

Meljen's Designs Challenge - A Charming Project

Good morning and welcome to another fun challenge from the Meljen's Designs team!  This week's challenge is to use a charm on your Meljen's project.

Here's what I've created using Melissa's new colored "Sand Castle" digital image:

This card came together so easily by using one of Meljen's fun pre-colored image!  I enjoy coloring, but when I need a card quickly this is the perfect solution.  Be sure and check the Meljen shop for more colored digis.  The designer papers are from Cosmo Cricket Salt Air Mini Deck and the charm was in my stash.  The sentiment is a freebie from Create With TLC.

A couple of things to keep in mind as you play along this week:
  • MelJen digital images are required to participate
  • You will have one week to upload your challenge card to the linky provided on the challenge blog.
Thanks for stopping by for a closer look!  Please be sure to check out the inspiration provided by the rest of the MelJen Design Team.  We always enjoy reading your comments.

Sassy Cheryl Show Me #123

Since Summer is busy for everyone, Cheryl has opened up the Show Me challenge for two weeks.  That means everyone has two weeks to share what's going on with a chance to win a free Sassy Cheryl Digi.  Woo-Hoo!

We are experiencing very unusually warm temperatures in Alaska.  The day that I took this photo on my iPhone, Anchorage was the same temperature as Maui.  Unbelievable!  So, my post is short tonight as I need to go out and soak in some Vitamin D for the day!

I am also including a collage of images that I colored while on our camping trip this weekend.  I love being able to sit outside with my Copic Markers and Prismacolor pencils to color in the sunlight.  So much fun!  So, watch out for some of these cuties to be posted in the coming weeks.

Thanks for stopping by and letting me share!

Unity Stamps FWF and Be Inspired Challenge

Friday's are fabulous for so many reasons, but especially because Unity hosts Friends with Flair.  It's a fun linky party with prizes!

I am using a new set called "Gossip, Hot-flashes & crazy" for my card today.  Angela, the owner of Unity, has so many fabulous sales that it's hard to resist buying these fun images.  This was part of a New Release bundle sale which arrived this week. I couldn't wait to ink it up!  I love the retro vintage lady images and the "kind of snarky" sentiments that are included.

This is also my submission for Unity's Be Inspired challenge colors this month.
Thanks for stopping by for a closer look!  I always enjoy reading your comments.

Sassy Cheryl Challenge #171 - Here Comes Summer!

Miz Ann is our hostess this week for the Sassy Cheryl Challenge.  She has chosen a very appropriate theme - "Summer".  I have several favorite summer images from Sassy Cheryl, but ultimately I colored up this fun image of Sally & her sidekick Bella.

I'm not sure whether Sally & Bella are peeking out to say hello or to see if there's something scarey outside the tent flap!!

This image is called "Sassy Sally and Bella Go Camping".  The sentiment is from a digital set by Create with TLC called "Shellebrate Summer".  I was out of town and unable to play along with the recent step card challenge.  I thought a center step card would work perfectly with this image.  This is my very first attempt at a center step card.  I found an easy step-by-step tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers by the fabulously talented Frances Byrne.  You can find the tutorial HERE.

Here's a little close up of the colored image.  I have used various Copic markers, Prismacolor pencils and a charcoal pencil to shade.  Of course, the digital image was fussy cut and layered on the "night sky" background paper with dimension tape.  The binoculars are from a Cricut Cartridge - Camping Out.  And a little ladybug brad to finish off!

The summer weather in Anchorage is holding (so far)!  DH is packing up the camper and we are headed out for a weekend of outdoor fun.  We don't sleep in a tent like Sally & Bella anymore, but we do enjoy being out in the camper and enjoying the nice weather.

Hope you have a great weekend!  Thanks for stopping by.  I always enjoy reading your sweet comments!

Art Impressions Challenge #112 - Masculine

This is my second entry for this week's Art Impressions Challenge.  My Father's Day card uses "Landscape Silhouettes" from Sweet 'n Sassy.

Art Impressions Challenge #112 - Masculine

I hope your week is going well!  We are setting historic high temperatures for areas of Alaska this week.  I'm enjoying every minute for the warm, sunny days!

I am quickly posting a card for this week's Art Impressions challenge to create masculine cards.

This card uses and adorable digital image from Bugaboo called "Brat riding a bike".

Thanks for stopping by for a closer look!

Sassy Cheryl Show Me Challenge #123

The weekend is almost over -- Boo Hoo!  It has been absolutely gorgeous here in the Anchorage area with unbelievable temperatures in the mid-70s.  With weather such as that, Alaskans spend every waking hour outside soaking it in!!  Needless to say, there has been no time spent in the stamping cave for the past few days.

However, I am doing some major house cleaning in preparation for visitors this month.  While cleaning today I decided to scan an old photo my Mom gave me of my grandparent's service station.  She noted on the photo that it was probably late 1930s - early 1940s.  If you look closely, you will see my Papa carrying a tire on each shoulder.  He was an amazing man and did many things in his life.

So, that's my "Show Me" for this week!  It's easy to play along, so check out the blog for details and join the fun.  Hope you all have a great week!

The Sweet Stop Sketch SSS215 - It's a Girl Thing!

Happy Saturday and welcome to another fun sketch from The Sweet Stop!  This week's sketch comes with a spin and a prize.  The spin is that it's a girl thing and the prize is a $15.00 gift certificate to the Sweet 'n Sassy store.

Here's what I have created this week's using the Sweet 'n Sassy clear stamp set "His Child":

Here's the sketch for this week:

Sassy Cheryl's Challenge #170 - For a Guy/Boy

This week's Sassy Cheryl's Digi Stamps Challenge is to create something "For a Guy/Boy".  I have used this sweet image called "He is Loved" for my card:

The image was colored with Copic Markers and Prismacolor pencils blended with baby oil. Various die cuts were used and the sky background was created by masking with a cloud stencil.  The sentiment is from a set by GinaK called "Friends".

I have been following Cheryl Grant's digital images for some time now.  I was really excited when the Sassy Cheryl Challenge Blog posted a design team call.  The current design team members are super talented and a great group of ladies.  It would be such an honor (and so much fun) to play along with them each week!

Thanks for stopping by today for a closer look at my submission!

MelJen Challenge #164 - Dad, Daddy, Father

I hope everyone is having a fabulous week!  It has been in the 70's and sunny every day here in Anchorage.  We are enjoying every minute!

Before I get to my post for the day I have to share some exciting news.  I received an email a few week's ago from the MelJen Design Team Coordinator asking if I was interested in joining the team.  Huh?!  Wow, what a surprise.  Of course, I responded immediately that I would love to play along with this talented team of ladies.  And today is my first challenge!

If you aren't familiar with Melissa Jenkins' whimsical digital designs, you can check them out in her shop HERE.  Melissa is also having a Father's Day sale this weekend.  You can use this 25% discount coupon in the store as many times as you like until midnight June 16.

Now, without further ado, this week's MelJen Designs Challenge theme is Dad, Daddy, Father. This challenge was perfectly timed for completing my Father's Day card.  Here is what I created using Fisher Moose:

I kept my design very clean and simple since this is going to be mailed out of state.  The digital image was colored with Copic Markers and Prismacolor pencils.  The sentiment is from the Michael's $1 bin and two colors of hemp cording were added.

Sassy Cheryl Challenge #169 and Show Me

I hope you all are having a fabulous weekend!  It is an unseasonal 77 degrees in Anchorage today.

This week's Sassy Cheryl Challenge is "Perfectly Pinkalicious".  I had this image printed and on my craft desk ready to be colored and this was the perfect challenge.  I always envision her big bubble as pink!  Probably from my childhood days of chewing lots of pink bubblegum.

Here's what I came up with using a past freebie called "Bubble Blower":

This sweet image was colored with Copic Markers and highlighted with prismacolor pencils.  The shading was done with General's charcoal pencil.  It's difficult to see in the photo, but glossy accents has been added to the bubble gum.  I have used this week's Mojo Monday sketch.  I thought it worked perfectly to carry out the bubble theme.  The sentiment is from a digital stamp set called "Playing with Bubbles" by Paulette at Create With TLC.

I am also sharing this project with the ladies over on Cheryl's Show Me Challenge blog.  We would love for you to join in the fun.  It's super easy and you might be the lucky winner of a Sassy Cheryl Digi image!!

Thanks for stopping by for a closer look.  Have a fabulous evening!

The Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge #214

Welcome to another sketch from The Sweet Stop!  I hope your Saturday is fun filled and maybe you can squeeze in some creative time.

Here's what I came up with this week using a new set from the May Sweet 'n Sassy release called "Across the Miles":

I knew I had to have this new set designed by Dina Kowal.  I love her work and this set is no exception.  You can check it out at the Sweet 'n Sassy Shop HERE.  The map image was sponged with various Memento inks and the airplane image was fussy cut and popped up with dimension foam tape.  The designer papers are from the new BoBunny Detour Collection.

Here's this week's sketch that I used:

I rotated the sketch to accommodate the horizontal image.  I also replaced the bling with one of the sentiments from the set.

Just a few things to keep in mind as you play.... -You do NOT have to use Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps images to play along, but we sure love when you do :).

Unity Friends with Flair and Be Inspired Challenge

Happy Friday!  I have been out of town and unable to participate with Unity's Friends with Flair blog hop for the past few weeks.  I have really missed playing along.  This week I decided to use the Be Inspired sketch for my project:

The sketch is pretty clean & simple.  I used Unity's Itty Bitty Button Bingo image and the birthday sentiment is from Memory Box.

Thanks for stopping by for a closer look!  Hope you have a creative weekend.

Sassy Cheryl's Show Me #122

Sorry I've been MIA for several days.  I have been away from my "crafting cave" visiting family out of state.  I had a really good time and got a chance to do some crafty shopping.  My all time favorite place to shop is Hobby Lobby.  This trip was really super big as I hit a 50% off sale!  Wow!

I thought I'd share some of my goodies with you for this week's Show Me challenge:

I can't wait to play with the goodies!  I hope you are having a creative week.  Why don't you play along with the "Sassy" ladies this week?  It's really easy and we enjoy stopping by to see what you have going on.  You can find the details on Cheryl's blog HERE.

Have a great week and thanks for stopping by!
