Neji Hyūga (日向ネジ, Hyūga Neji) is one of the main characters of the series. He is a jonin-level shinobi from Konohagakure's Hyūga clan as well as a member of Team Guy.
Background[]
Neji resented his clan's main branch household due to them making his father sacrifice his life to defend the main branch family.
Neji defeats Hinata.
Neji took the Chūnin Exams with his team. Neji was matched up with with his cousin and the heiress to his clan, Hinata Hyūga. In the end, Neji was victorious in his match with Hinata. In the finals, Neji battled against Naruto Uzumaki and was defeated. Hiashi Hyūga then came to Neji, telling him the truth about his father. After hearing the truth about how his father was willing to sacrifice his life for the clan, Neji changed his personality. Neji is now kinder and now shows great care for his teammates. Neji also shows great care and respect for his cousin.

Just like how he was potrayed in Naruto Shippudden, Neji is serious and mature. However in this anime, Neji is portrayed in a more comedic light as demonstrated how he was more willing to go along with Lee's antics such as regularly dressing up as a girl in Rock Lee's skits with little resistance. He did lose patience once about having to dress up, but later made up with Lee.
Neji also acts like a stereotypical older brother, being very protective of Hinata and is always trying to prevent Naruto from getting close to Hinata. He will also help Hinata in any way, saying once that if it would help HInata, then he was in.
Appearance[]
Neji has noticeably long, brown hair. Like the rest of his clan, he has very fair skin and lavender eyes. Neji wears more traditional Hyūga-like robes: a white shirt with loose sleeves, closed on the right shoulder, with a fastener running down the right part of the chest, matching pants, with a dark navy grey apron tied around his waist and black shinobi sandals.
When Neji was a genin he wore a black forehead protector over his forehead. He wore a khaki shirt, dark brown shorts, and blue shinobi sandals. He also had bandages wrapped around his right arm, and right leg. His hair reached the middle of his back and was tied back a few inches above the end in a loose ponytail, while two straps attached to a smaller headband underneath his ninja forehead protector frame the sides of his face
Abilities[]
From a young age, Neji had been hailed a natural genius even amongst the Hyūga clan. Over the time-skip, when most of the former Konoha 11 genin reached chūnin rank, Neji was the only one to advance to the rank of jōnin.
Byakugan[]

As a member of the Hyūga clan, Neji possesses the Byakugan, a dōjutsu kekkei genkai which grants him near 360-degree vision, along with x-ray vision, and the ability to see chakra networks, among other things.
Taijutsu[]

Neji's fighting style is the signature style of his clan, the Gentle Fist, which takes advantage of the Byakugan's insight into people's chakra pathway system. The Gentle Fist allows him to cause severe internal trauma with minimal external force into an opponent's chakra pathway system. According to the Naruto series, by using the Gentle Fist, Neji could affect internal organs of an opponent, and is capable of killing the opponent with a single strike should he aim to harm the heart.

As a member of the Hyūga clan, Neji specializes in close-range taijutsu combat. Neji had mastered many of his clan's most powerful techniques, such as the Eight Trigrams Palms Revolving Heaven, which allows him to repel every attack. He could also use the Eight Trigrams Sixty-Four Palms, an extremely strong offensive move with which he's able to rapidly dispatch enemies by striking many of their chakra points in fast succession, making it hard for them to both move and control chakra. He also learned the Eight Trigrams Vacuum Palm, with which he can expel chakra from his palm to attack opponents out of his physical reach. He could also collaborate with another Gentle Fist user to perform the Eight Trigrams Eternal Palms Revolving Heaven.
