The time closet is a recurring feature of the Star house in The Patrick Star Show. It is located in Patrick's room, and allows the Star family to travel through time.

Description[]

Bunny the Barbarian 051

The time closet showing footage of Paris.

The time closet takes the form of a metal door with four purple dials on it, a multicolored wheel, a lightbulb on top, and multiple cables hooked up to it. There are two different methods for the user to choose the period they want to go to: the first is by typing on a keypad, and the second is by spinning the wheel on the front. A digital screen that displays the location before the closet is entered. When the time closet is entered, its exit door appears in the time period, serving as an exit back to the Star house.

Patrick's profile on the official Nickelodeon page for The Patrick Star Show says that the time closet was invented by Sandy. However, this has yet to be depicted in the series. In "The Patterfly Effect," Patrick builds the time closet himself by going to university and graduating with a diploma in scientific research.

In "FitzPatrick," a voice comes from the closet, announcing the arrival of multiple Patricks from different timelines.

Role in series[]

"Bunny the Barbarian"[]

While vacuuming the house, Bunny comes across the time closet. She turns the dials and decides to travel to an ancient fantasy world.

"Who's a Big Boy?"[]

Patrick uses the time closet to go to the 1940s to get fruit to smash on his show.

"Just in Time for Christmas"[]

Ouchie gives Patrick the idea to use the time closet to find Christmas presents for his family. Patrick first visits the far future to get the Laser Phaser for Cecil, the ancient past to get a dinosaur egg for GrandPat, and the 1800s to get a tattoo and a Fiji mermaid for Bunny and Squidina.

"Patrick's Alley"[]

When Patrick accidentally cuts GrandPat in half during a magic act, GrandPat's lower half detaches and runs into the time closet to go to the past.

"Super Sitters"[]

SpongeBob and Patrick use the time closet to go back in time to when Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy were babies at the Super Child Daycare.

"Mid-Season Finale"[]

While the time closet is not used directly, it appears as a transition to the "Guess What Me Thinking?" segment, which takes place in the same past time period from "Just in Time for Christmas."

"Shrinking Stars"[]

GrandPat gets stuck in the time closet and goes to Egypt. He knocks the nose off the Sphynx and falls into a room full of mummies.

"FitzPatrick"[]

FitzPatrick tricks Patrick into going in the time closet, in order to take over his show. He does not set a specific time, and the number displays spin rapidly. Thus, Patricks from all different time periods and timelines show up and shove FitzPatrick off-stage, pulling him into the time closet with them. This drops him off to the time of a barbarian Patrick.

"Host-a-Palooza"[]

Bunny goes to Egypt with the time closet, and is carried out by a bunch of pharoahs. Later, GrandPat casts his fishing rod into the still-open door of the time closet, which leads to prehistoric times. Squidasaurus Rex then smashes through the wall.

"The Patterfly Effect"[]

Bunny tells Patrick that she dreamed of being a race car driver, but he interrupts her midway through and believes that she wanted to be an actual race car. Patrick uses the time closet to travel to Klopnod, 30 years in the past. Once she achieves her goal, Patrick returns to the present, but finds that everyone has wheels. Patrick goes back into the closet and interrupts himself before he can tell Bunny to be a race car. However, every time he tries to return to his normal time, he messes something up and causes the world to be different.

Finally, Patrick ends up in a world where breakfast does not exist, and the time closet is just a regular closet. He tries to reinvent the closet by taping a clock onto a box, and Squidina tells him that inventing a time closet requires decades of advanced education and research. Patrick returns to college and reinvents the time closet, then prevents himself from ever going back in time from the future. However, he realizes he missed breakfast. The two Patricks use the time closet to go back 15 minutes and end up being breakfast themselves.

"A Space Affair to Remember"[]

Patrick and Squidina try to send their parents to ancient Egypt for an anniversary dinner. However, the dial changes and sends them to a space station instead.

"The Lil' Patscals"[]

When GrandPat is telling Patrick a story, he gets inspired to experience it himself. He goes back to the 1930s with the time closet and meets up with younger GrandPat and his friends.

"Neptune's Ball"[]

The Star family take turns going to different time periods to get fancy outfits for attending Neptune's ball.

"Patrick's Prison Pals"[]

When Sockeye Sammy is looking for a way to escape the Star house, he opens the door to the time closet, and a monster pulls him inside. He emerges hours later, injured.

"The Star Games"[]

Patrick has Squidina play Temporal Causality, a game where she must travel back in time to change an ordinary object in the present day. Squidina visits various time periods, including prehistoric times, the Renaissance, and the medieval period, but is seemingly unable to change the coffee cup.

"Tying the Klop-Knot"[]

Patrick uses the time closet to travel back to Bunny and Cecil's wedding so he can eat their cake. Later in the episode, Cyber-Pat uses the time closet to travel back to Bunny and Cecil's second wedding because he wants to eat their cake.

"Too Many Patricks"[]

Patrick uses the time closet to get Pat the Hapless, Cave Patrick, and Pat-Tron to attend parties for him while he hosts The Patrick Show!.
