Peter Burns is a former SpongeBob SquarePants crew member who worked as a writer and story editor. He often worked with Steve Fonti, Chris Mitchell, Sherm Cohen, Aaron Springer, Paul Tibbitt, Ennio Torresan, and Erik Wiese. He developed the idea for the episode "Ripped Pants" about SpongeBob ripping his pants.[1] He has also worked on Rugrats and Hey Arnold!

Peter Burns only worked on season 1 in 1999, before returning to Chicago. His spot was later taken by Merriwether Williams.[1]
