"Lucky and the Doomed Delivery" is the thirty-third episode of Spirit Riding Free and the seventh episode of the fifth season.

Plot Synopsis

The PAL agree to take a dangerous trail in order to deliver an invitation to the orphanage Miss Flores grew up in.

Plot

The PAL plan to go on their first camping trip unsupervised, but Abigail and Pru disagree about the intended destination, with Abigail preferring Mount Disappointment and Pru wanting to go to Greynold Geyser. Meanwhile, a wedding invitation meant to be delivered to the orphanage where Kate was raised by nuns has been returned undelivered. Sister Nazaria and Sister Ignacia Boniface being the only family Kate has, she hopes they can come to the wedding. Feeling sorry for her future stepmother, Lucky decides to deliver the invitation for her as a wedding present. When the PAL go off to the orphanage, they lose their compass and food, and they encounter fallen trees blocking their path.

When they finally arrive at the orphanage, they discover it abandoned and overrun by wolves. Although Lucky does not succeed in delivering wedding invitations to the nuns, she finds an envelope bearing the initials "K.F." in a file cabinet in an office, and infers these to be Kate's initials. The PAL escape the wolves and return home. Lucky feels sorry that she didn't find out what happened to the nuns or deliver the invitation, but despite this, Kate is touched by her future stepdaughter's thoughtful attempt at delivering the invitation. Lucky gives Kate the envelope, and inside is a locket necklace and a photograph of a baby with her parents, apparently Kate and her parents. Lucky assures Kate that she'll have family at the wedding: Lucky herself and Jim.
