Boxcar Bonnie is a fictional series of young adult detective novels, Lucky's favorite books. Lucky considers Boxcar Bonnie "the most amazing girl detective in the world." Boxcar Bonnie has solved over twenty-eight mysteries.[1] "Boxcar Bonnie" is a parody of "Nancy Drew".
Background[]
Boxcar Bonnie has a trusty bloodhound named Inspector. They ride the train and solve mysteries. When not solving mysteries, Boxcar Bonnie is a student of archery. She is brunette.[1] Lucky's city friend Emma shares Lucky's enthusiasm for Boxcar Bonnie.[2]
History[]
Lucky's favorite book is Boxcar Bonnie and the Ghostly Goblet. The story started when Boxcar Bonnie inherited a goblet from a mysterious uncle, or rather, at the ice rink, and ended when it turned out the ice-skating debutante didn't really have an alibi after all.[1]
In Boxcar Bonnie and the Manor of Madness, Dr. Horace Arthurton pretended to leave the manor, but actually was still there, hiding in the walls.[3]
In Boxcar Bonnie and the Dastardly Double Deal, Bonnie convinced thieves that they were stealing a priceless diamond, when, in reality, the "diamond" was just a chunk of ice (the story took place in winter).[4]
Lucky attempted to emulate her hero Boxcar Bonnie to solve the mystery of thefts of Abigail's pies prior to the bake-off, but learned that she was better at reading mysteries than solving them when Abigail, not Lucky, identified the culprits.[1]
Lucky was reading Boxcar Bonnie and the Comedian's Caper when her Cousin Julian came to visit her room.[5]
While Spirit was laid up in the barn recovering from wounds inflicted by a mountain lion, Lucky passed time by reading Spirit Boxcar Bonnie novels.[6]
