Biography[]
Finn was born in the early 1980s in Japan while his father, a surgeon, was stationed there as part of his service in the U.S. Navy. As a military brat, Finn moved frequently throughout his childhood and spent the first decade of his life primarily on the Lajes Field Air Force Base in the Portugese Azores. He would later live in Mission Viejo, California, and attended Columbia University, with plans to go to dental school after graduating.
In Season 4, Finn starts dating Meadow Soprano and holds the distinction of being the first of her boyfriends to be held in good graces by her father Tony Soprano, although he and his wife Carmela were visibly thrown off by Finn's liberal views on gay relationships while discussing Herman Melville's short story Billy Budd. In 2004, Tony gives him a job at a construction site where he first learns of the Soprano family's mob connections and soon catches the ire of Vito Spatafore when Finn discovers his homosexuality after witnessing Vito perform oral sex on a security guard before work. Finn plans to to flee New Jersey after being intimidated, but he is caught by Meadow in the act, who thinks he tried to leave her without her knowledge. In a spur of the moment, Finn proposes to Meadow and they agree to move to California after getting married.
Over the course of the next two years, however, Finn becomes increasingly concerned over Meadow's acceptance of her father's mafia work, especially after he is forced to confirm rumors of Vito's same-sex attraction to members of the DiMeo family, and confronts her with the hypocrisy he sees in her apathy towards Tony's crimes. This culminates in a heated argument in which Meadow furiously walks out of. Finn is completely absent in the second half of Season 6, presumably meaning that they broke off their engagement as a result of their contrasting views, with Meadow having since begun dating her second cousin Patrick Parisi.
In Season 5 episode "The Test Dream", Tony has a dream about meeting over dinner with Finn's parents, who appear to him as actress Annette Bening and his former police informant Vin Makazian while Finn is sporadically replaced with Tony's son A.J. at times.
