Yagyu Lord

A Yagyu Lord, from Sonic Universe #14.

Yagyu Lord,[1] also known as Lord Yagyu,[2] is a subject that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a title given to a leader of Yagyu Clan forces within a specified region of the Dragon Kingdom.

History[]

Past[]

Years ago, Yagyu lords operated on a system where each was given total control of Yagyu forces in their specified region. However, following the Bride of Rich Nights' claim as bride of the Yagyu Clan, the authority of Yagyu Lords was diminished slightly, with them all serving under her as thieves, not assassins.[1]

Den of Thieves[]

A regional Yagyu Lord was later confronted by Monkey Khan, Liu Chi Mei, and Liu Fang after commanding a spree of thefts in Leung Kar. In response, the Yagyu Lord trapped them in the Yagyu treasure chamber, stocked with stolen valuables, and guarded by the fearsome Kamezon. Monkey Khan, however, used the power of his Atom-Bat to scramble Kamezon's gold detector, causing it to chase after the Yagyu Lord and his regional underlings using its fire breath. This allowed the trio to return all the riches stolen over fifty years ago by the regional Yagyu group back to their owners.[2]

Iron Dominion Takeover[]

Another Yagyu Lord was forced to accept Regina Ferrum as the new leader of the clan following the murder of the Bride of Rich Nights by Jun Kun. As a result of the Bride's death, he was the Yagyu Leader that Khan, Sonic, Tails, and Sally were forced to approach in their efforts to dissolve the clan's loyalty to the Iron Dominion. Though he summoned the group to meet with him, he refused to meet with Sonic and Tails, and proved difficult for Sally to deal with, casually dismissing her arguments. However, after explaining that it was only under the Bride system that the clan had turned to thievery, and expressing a longing for the old ways of regional lords, Khan convinced him to break ties with the Iron Dominion and in order to allow the clan to adopt its old structure of regional commanders (knowing that, ultimately, the clan would not be able to maintain efficiency that way). The Lord agreed to this and swore to spread the word to other Yagyu Lords that the Yagyu were finished with serving the Iron Dominion.[1]

In New Mobotropolis, two other Yagyu Lords witnessed Monkey Khan's declaration that the Yagyu were free of the Iron Dominion, prompting one to give the order for the clan to return home, explaining to a flustered Lien-Da that even between fierce rivals, one's word of honor was considered sacred by culture of the Dragon Kingdom.[3]
