South Ocean is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a large oceanic division located on Sonic's World which holds not only a division of the Great Blue Realm, but also the underwater city of Meropis.

Description[]

The South Ocean is a large oceanic division that is part of the Great Blue Realm. It hosts the underwater city of Meropis, along with its kingdom and its Meropis City Guard. Following the Shattered World Crisis, a rift, dubbed the Anostos Rift, was formed not too far from Meropis. The sacred grounds of the Eusebes Temple is also located near Meropis.

The South Ocean is currently endangered by the Northern Oceans Egg Army, led by Akhlut, which have been terrorizing the Great Blue Realm.

History[]

For an unknown time, Akhlut and his Northern Oceans Egg Army have menaced the Great Blue Realm, causing unsettlement amongst the residents in the South Ocean, including Queen Angelica and King Puff of Meropis. At some point in the South Ocean, Meropis began experiencing trouble when the surround waters got polluted and Meropis' shields had trouble keeping the contaminated waters out. When the Shattered World Crisis occurred a few months later, South Ocean was one of the areas affected by this catastrophe, causing Dark Gaia Creatures to infect the seas at night.[1][2]
