Quake Woman, also known as Tempo, is a character that appears in the Mega Man comic series, and in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs, published by Archie Comics. She is a Robot Master created by Dr. Light's colleague Dr. Noele Lalinde, who considers her a daughter. Created as a research assistant robot and later upgraded for geological studies, she was nearly destroyed during a mission. Hoping to distance herself from Tempo, Lalinde removed her emotions, making Quake Woman little more than a tool. However, Lalinde realized that she still cared for her, and restored her emotions. Despite struggling with being able to feel again, Quake Woman proved as heroic as ever, helping Mega Man and his allies on several missions.
History[]
Worlds Unite[]
Quake Woman answered Dr. Light's call when Sonic Man attacked Mega City on the orders of Sigma to set up one of the Unity Engines. Dr. Light called upon her and several reformed Wily Robot Masters, after the Light Robot Masters tried and failed to defeat Sonic Man. While she was not created for combat like her unlikely new teammates, Quake Woman agreed to help due to her friendship with Roll. Unfortunately, Quake Woman and the Wily Robot Masters found themselves just as outmatched by Sonic Man as their predecessors, and even Break Man proved unable to defeat him.[1] Their world and Sonic's World then began to merge together, leading the Robot Master to an encounter with the Freedom Fighters. The two groups were soon joined by the restored Sonic the Hedgehog and Mega Man, and together with Dr. Light, Roll, Auto, Gemerl, Knuckles the Echidna, and the Maverick Hunters and Team Sticks boarded the Sky Patrol.[2] Quake Woman developed something of a rapport with the Freedom Fighters' resident artificial intelligence Nicole the Holo-Lynx who had undergone a journey not unlike Tempo's in discovering her "self," before the entire crew of heroes were called into action to assault Sigma's Mechaniloids and the Deadly Six at Sigma's base on the Lost Hex.[3] Unfortunately, the latter group forced Quake Woman and the other robotic members of the unified heroes to attack their friends.[4] Fortunately, they were freed by Dr. Eggman and Dr. Wily using the Egg-Wily Uppity Robot Scrambler Cannon, though they had no time to rest as Sigma proceeded to employ his army of Mavericks.[5]
After a short battle in which they were overwhelmed, the heroes were unexpectedly joined by heroes from the world of Street Fighter. Inspired, Sally Acorn directed her allies to split into small teams and travel to various worlds to stop the Mavericks and gather new allies.[6] Quake Woman thus departed for the world of Skies of Arcadia with Knuckles the Echidna, before joining in the final battle with Sigma and his defenders.[7][8][9] The events of this conflict were later erased by the actions of Xander Payne, returning Quake Woman to her world.[10]
Personality[]
In her early days, Quake Woman was very much like an excitable young child, until her accident and subsequent removal of emotions, which left her stoic and logical with a perpetual blank expression. After Dr. Lalinde's restore her personality, Quake Woman became more open and slowly learned to feel again, though he often has a hard time understanding her emotions.
Like Mega Man, Quake Woman is a heroic Robot Master who is willing to fight in defense of others despite being created for peaceful purposes. She is also devoted to her friends, and willing to face danger in order to help them.
Powers and abilities[]
Quake Woman is equipped for digging and has a great deal of knowledge on the field of subterranean excavation.
Weapons[]
Quake Woman's primary weapon/tool is her Quake Drill, which is designed to carve through solid rock or even metal.
Trivia[]
- Quake Woman is one of several characters introduced in the Mega Man comic series, and the first female Robot Master in that group. She is also one of the few female Robot Masters featured in any branch of the franchise, the only other notable models being Roll and Splash Woman.
